Las Fallas in Valencia…or pre Christmas in Madrid ?

I have never visited a big European city during the Christmas season . Madrid, being my favourite, immediately came to mind . Maribel ‘s description of December in Madrid was very inviting.

Las Fallas in Valencia, the city I also like, is an event I have not experienced.
(I could include a few day in Madrid afterwords)
From what I read Las Fallas celebrations are colourful, unique, and crowded.

Unfortunately, I have to select one trip.
Any input , especially on Fallas, would be great.

We were there this past April. We stayed for five days in the center. Las Fallas was an amazing experience . I did really enjoy downloading a map of the Fallas and walking all over to see them. We also went on a hunt for street art and enjoyed it.

It is important to know that they close down the streets so we had to walk with our luggage in and out. This wasn’t an issue because we tend to travel light.
