gabrialtraian: Just and FYI to help you in the future -You probably have some great info in your long post. However many people won't/can't read it. When you post more than a few sentences - use ¶ / i.e. double returns - - -

- - - like this. A really long post like that one is very hard to read w/o breaks.

thanks for the Chester info Gabrieltraian-- I am only considering London as I have been there 6 times already and have seen a lot. I still want to see Tate Britain & Tate Modern & go to Portobello Road (again) and visit all the parks in summertime. I can always find a way to have a good time in London, but will also consider the other sights like York, Liverpool, etc.

Thanks a bunch!!

janis,

Thank you for the tip.
Never thought of this before.

Now when I look at it, double returns indeed make for easier reading.

I'll definitely do this in future.

Thanks so much to everyone who has assisted me with my planning for this trip. I have the basic trip all figured out and will continue to adjust it a bit.

--July 5th Fly in to Manchester (still need place to stay)
--July 6th take train to Llandudno
--July6-11 castles, mountains, beaches and walking in North Wales
--July 11th take train to Manchester then onto Edinburgh
--July 11-17 in Edinburgh (may take a train up north to Oban for a day 1/2 just for a visit out of the city. I know it is far-- but I really will enjoy the train ride so it will be worth it to me. I still have to work out Edinburgh daily schedule but am staying at Euro Hostel Edingurgh Halls-- basically Univeristy flats with 3-4 bedrooms that are singles and lockable-- you share the common areas of the flat with 2 to 3 others. Sounds interesting and it is quite inexpensive. (20 pounds a night week days and 26 pounds for Sat. & Sun. Breakfast not included though.)The location is central and only 10-12 minute walk from Waverley Station.

Again thanks!!

I'll be sure to post a trip report.

Cheers,
Susan

--July 17 train back to Manchester & stay at an Airport Hotel
--July 18 fly home to Oregon

Purchased train tickets on Virgin Trains site--

Manchester, Picadilly to Llandudno (return)
Manchester to Edinburgh (return)

for a total price of 56.50 pounds-- much cheaper than purchasing a rail pass.

Now I am down to booking Hotels in Manchester and deciding to go to Oban or not & booking those details.

Thanks again,
susan
