Sounds like they may need to rent a golf cart just to get their purchases through the entrance of CDG. Whatever - sounds like a lot of fun and France certainly thanks you both for aiding the economy.

Benita: I just found this, and immediately stopped all of my prep for Paris trip to read it.

Yours must be the looniest trip report I have ever read. Hilariously fun to read and enjoying every moment and every word.

Been trying to figure out how and when I could meet you, and haven't decided if I have the strength to get up early enough to go to the Hotel de Ville on the Journees du Patrimoine, next Saturday.

I'm certainly going to stay away from Chanel and LV!!

I think that the 18th is about your last day, right? So since you are staying quite near where we three couples will be, maybe we could get together for a drink, and you can give us the scoop on what to do and see. However, I have to stay away from Chanel and LV. (anyway I'm not much of a shopper.) We arrive sept. 18 early AM

We will be on the Av. de la Bourdoannais, near rue St. Dominique, which must be near you, if you are across from Cafe Constant.

Look forward to seeing you, if possible.

Meanwhile keep up the hilarity!!

Up at 5:30, pick up at 6:30 train to Giverny at 7:20. Purchased
tickets and picked up croissants and coffee. Went to Le Toilettes and paid .70 euros for a clean bathroom. When I put my coffee down it tipped over had to go and tell money lady what I had done. She thanked me for telling her and said it was ok. when I use a bathroom I need shelves and hooks and especially cup holders while I do my business. I can' imagine how much money they take in at .70 euros per pee. I bet those ladies shop at Chanel.

went and stood by the trains watching for what track our trAin was on. The train was delayed 10 minutes, then 15 minutes. You can imagine the mad dash when track number was posted. People were sitting on the stairways. We stopped outside of Vernon and an announcement was made. All we understood was sorry for something. Got off the train and saw no signs for Giverny but did see a bus down the street so thought maybe that was the bus to monets house. we walked to the bus and asked if this was the bus we were looking for, the driver did not speak English and asked if anyone could translate. this young boy came forwRd and told us this was a student bus. thank god we asked before boarding the bus. so started walking back to where we got off the train. we were the only people on the street. we saw one lady and she obviously took a pity on us and we asked about the bus. we didn't realize the train left us on the opposite track and everyone had disappeared in a tunnel under the tracks to the station. we are now making progress. found a cab to Giverny. again someone saw two old broads and said let's take these two ladies by way of Spain. It cost us 20 euros for a three mile trip and there was no traffic.

We were early and found our designated waiting door. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL MORNING TO WALK AND ENJOY THE SIGHTS, sounds and smells of the area. soon others arrived and there was the mad dash to the Lilly pads. No lilies blooming but lovely just the same with the bridges. The gardens were lovely with lots of flowers and enjoyed his house. On the way out is a gift shop that as 62 said has every conceivable item that could be sold under Monets name.

Michael suggested we eat at Hotel Baudy in
Giverny. Lovely old building food was delicious. I am sorry to talk all the time about my bathroom habits but 62 is making me drink water at every turn. we think the reason we did not feel well last week is because we were dehydrated. Not going to be a problem this week. found the bus back to the train station. 62 let me sleep for 15 minutes on the way back to Paris. STooka a cab to post office around the corner. I had purchased some soap from QProvence that 62 liked and does not ship to us. ye

Continuing on iPad froze. Does not ship to us in the United States. They had the package but needed my passport. went back to apartment for it and got 62s box of soap. then stopped at another store in the area 62 wanted, grocery and wine shop. Back to apartment to change in 15 minutes for the opera. I was planning on wearing dressy shoes and what to my wondering eyes should appear but Kankles. Not just mini k's but those kind that old women have with the skin slowly melting over the shoe. I looked good for the opera from my knees up but knees down not so much

we saw don Giovanni. Last night at the Bastille. Great seats on the floor in the middle. Wonderful music and the singing was out of this world. We took the metro over and waited for a cab back to apartment. On the metro 62 was uncomfortable. There was some man doing a dissertation. I just followed everyone's lead and looked down and ignored him. I did not see him but 62 said he was tall with dark hair and a beard. Eventually he got off and we were relieved.

Ate bread, butter and yogurt for dinner. Our typical late nite snack.

Today we are going to try to finish our shopping. 62 told me this will be an expensive day. Hope it is not worse than channel day but we are going to Longchamp, Hermes and Louis. come to think of it it could get worse. Paris shopping here we come,

Forgot to discuss bathroom at Hotel Baudy in
Giverny.
After lunch went to bathroom which is outback through a room into a beautiful garden with tiered levels where you could stop and paint or relax. saw sign for Toilettes and went up six levels of stairs. I thought well maybe since no one was up there I could just go in the bushes since desperation was setting in. thought how can people climb so many stairs just to pee. Decided to come back down and a kitchen cook said to me Madame toilets are right there (on the ground level) I had walked right past them. I pretended I had just wanted to walk up six levels of stairs but he knew and I knew what. Stupid thing I had done. Sometimes I am not the brightest Light on Broadway. Got a nice tour of the gardens though

Cherie, you cannot possibly imagine the sheer joy your posts inspire. In a former life, were we travel companions? How about a future life?

What a day of shopping. We are on our way to dinner and all I can say right now is we had a glass of champagne at Louis Vuitton on both Av des Champs-Élysées and ave Montaigne. Never underestimate our abilities and charm to get a glass of champagne. It has been a fabulous day in the big city of Paris,

This report is hilarious. Thank you so much for the laughs. I'm not a shopper but would love to come along just for the champagne!

I Love it! Champagne at LV! When's the NEXT Paris trip? I think you will have lots of takers....me included! Now then, what about haircuts???

(I had a "clean" (no evidence of disease) scan so I'm going to probably be around for a while longer! )
