Lee,
Lladro prices seem to be fairly standard throughout Spain (like Waterford in Ireland). "Nao" is of course cheaper than real McCoy Lladro. El Corte Ingles has a good selection, and getting your VAT refund back now is a painless procedure-just keep all your receipts and when you spend the stipulated minimun amount, go to the service desk, and they'll quickly do the paper work for you so you can get your VAT form stamped at the airport and a refund on your credit card.
Before you go, you might want to check out the Lladro prices at Yahoo's Luxury Corner.
http://st14.yahoo.com/luxurycorner/c...es-lladro.html They claim to give a 25 per cent discount.

We bought several in Spain as the prices were much cheaper than in the US (40% or more). While it is true that the marked prices are uniform throughout Spain, since we bought several and paid cash, we also received a 10% discount in addition to the 10% VAT refund that you get at the airport when returning home.

The best thing to do is to do your homework and find prices on the ones you are interested in at home so you know if its a good deal once you get there.

If you are planning on buying several pieces or a large piece for that matter check with your airline to see what their carry on restrictions are. Some airlines restrict you to one carryon (and some go by weight, I know BA does) so you don't want to buy several good sized pieces and plan on carrying them onboard only to find out you can't.

We just purchased 4 Lladros in Spain. The price differences were between 30-40 percent lower than the US. Prices were a bit higher in Madrid and lowest in Toledo of the cities we visited. As mentioned, the VAT is returned if applied for. The shops seem to favor figures of women and children with less emphasis on fantasy figures.
