London Boutique Hotel?

I'm looking to spend 3 days in November in a small somewhat modern boutique hotel under $400 U.S. (Kinightsbridge would be nice) Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi there, I would try the Knightsbridge Hotel (www.firmdale.com). They do a luxury double for under $400 and the location is excellent. This hotel is part of a lovely chain of boutique, interior designer hotels. I have never stayed but have had meals and watched movies in the Charlotte St. and Covent Garden hotels. They are really, really lovely.

I recently stayed at Myhotel Chelsea and really liked that. Lovely rooms with fantastic beds. I have also often stayed at The Capital; might be more than 400, but check rates; it's in Basil Street, yards from Harrods. They have a very good restaurant too. It's a very "English" hotel. Another one where I have stayed several times is The Franklin, in Egerton Gardens. Also very English, extremely friendly staff. Particularly nice rooms overlooking the gardens. I have heard good things about The Knightsbridge, but haven't stayed there (yet).

Last year, we stayed at the Rubens Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road across from the Royal Mews. Next door, is Hotel 41. It definitely fits your description and we enjoyed the Victoria area very much.

Here's their website:

The Knightsbridge hotel, (Beaufort Gardens) was being renovated when I was last in London in 2001. Location is excellent, 5 minute walk to Harrods, 5-8 minute walk to K'bridge Tube stop.
Beaufort Gardens itself is a very quiet street.

I have also stayed at the Beaufort Hotel in Beaufort Gardens; lovely, very friendly. Rates of about 125 pounds and up. They have a bar with complimentary drinks for guests, no restaurant but very good breakfast in the room. Also in the same street is the Beaufort House; they have apartments (1,2,3 bedrooms) with sitting room, kitchen. I have stayed there a few times; you feel like you have your own London pied-a-terre.

If it's late November (i.e. after the 24th) you could get a room @ the new MalMaison (chain of boutique hotels with bigger than average rooms) in London - opening price of £99 (www.malmaison.com)
