The fee is waived when you load a 7-day.

YK,
That's exactly what I was thinking when I woke up this AM! Of course, the extra 3.00 must have been for the deposit, and the agent at Heathrow didn't put any extra on for the trip into London. Then on the way back, the 9.60 we paid for 3 of us must have included that first trip in for 2 of us. Like I said, totally confusing. If we ever get back, I'll just buy paper 7-day tickets at the airport and forget about it, since we'll have seen most of the things that get the discounts!
Robespierre,
Someone should tell the agents that the fee is waived for a 7-day. Like I said, not a lot of money to fret about, but still should be able to sort it out for other travelers.

No no no!! If you don't need the 2for1 discounts, there's no point in a special trip to the RAIL station to get the PAPER travelcard. Just do PAYG Oyster if you're there 4 days or fewer or don't expect to hit the cap every day, or a 7-day travelcard loaded on an Oyster card if you're there 5 days or more and expect to use public transportation a lot (i.e. above the cap every day).

Hi, just joining in on this thread and I'm so confused!

I'm planning a short trip to London next week (about 3 full days) and we're planning to squeeze as many of the below places as we can in these days, what are your suggestions as to what card to get?

Piccadilly Circus
Trafalgar Square
Buckingham Palace
Kings Cross (to visit 9 3/4 - Harry Potter fan)
House of Parliament
Tower of London
Brick Lane
Kengsington Palace
Harrods

Any of these places not worth seeing?

what's the best way to travel to these sites? tube, rail or bus?

any suggestions most welcome!

"We had a poster here, flanneruk, who seems to have disappeared with the new board and I miss him, despite his total anti Americanism which comes out in almost every one of his posts."

No, flanneruk is here. He uses really annoying and tiring "british sarcasm"(yawn) and he really needs some prozac to get over his "america obsession."
