London Forecast: Hi 55 Low 35

I've been looking at daily temps in London for a few months now - since and before i spent a week there in early Feb

And it seems from Jan till now the daily temps are a high of 50-55 and a low of 33-37

nearly everyday same ole same old

Will i need AC next week?

The weather in London has been very strange this year. Two weeks ago we had temperatures in the mid to upper 60's, 48 hours later, it snowed! Today is bright and sunny but only around 50 and the forecast is rain for the next 4 days at least! The weather, despite what the forecasts may say is not stable at the moment but AC is unlikely to be essential next week an overcaot might be more appropriate

On our bike trips we used to camp in Sidcup ('Mudcup') Foots Cray Activity Centre and we regular saw 'wild' paraquets and throughout Kent

but i did not know there were wild parrots

or is this a parrot that got away?

thanks andi

CW

We also camped on the grounds of Allington Castle near Maidstone and there were flocks of these parakeets there

Q- i assumed these originated from escaped caged birds and found Kent warm enough to survive the winter

or are they indeed indigenous parakeets?
they can make a racket early in the morning when camping near them

Apparently they're an Indian breed. The local lore is that they escaped from a shoot at Elstree of a fillum set in the tropics.

Its's a CHOLMONDLEYTRUELOCALFOLKLORE

The fillum was the African Queen.

I wasn't aware that they were to be culled.

Maybe visionary Mayor has lumped them along with pigeons - as 'rats with wings'?

If there's one thing the weather isn't right now, it's same old same old.

In London, it's not just been glorious all day (with that amazing green everywhere you get when the trees and hedges are just budding: the boidies have been at their absolute best (the red kites are swarming over the M40 this evening). Two days ago, we woke to frost so heavy the water in the dog's outside bowl was frozen three inches thick. By 11 am, the blokes doing work on the patio were sweating and getting dehydrated. Ten days ago, we had six inches of snow there.

Even by British April standards, we've been getting a record number of seasons crammed into a couple of hours.

boidies?

you mean bodies - like sunbathing women

Is it something flannerpooch would relieve himself/herself on?

If not, I will jihad on you.

Indian ring-necked parakeets can be found in many urban/suburban areas of Europe. We've seen them for years in certain parks and neighborhoods in Brussels. One of the most easily seen Brussels flocks is in Parc Tenbosch in the Ixelles part of town.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/3869815.stm

In this part of Berkshire, the weather has not been nearly so dramatic as up in FlUK's area. The recent snowfall was just a hair over a dusting that melted within hours and the water in the stone birdbath never had more than a thin crust of ice. There was a chilly breeze this evening, but the current temp is 6 C, which is cool but not wintry.

Hi, Pal,

it's been sunny but freezing here in Cornwall for the last few days - there's been a wicked east wind blowing.

the forecast for the next few days is to maintain the same temp, but heavy rain.

the reason for this is obvious - the cricket season just started.

regards, ann

PS - BTW - Esher Rugby club call themselves the parakeets now - they have a large flock roosting in the near-by trees.

Up in sunny Ed-in-burg we had snow this morning followed by bright sunshine and a max temp of around 10C

As for Parrots & Parakeets, you get them in Kirby Stephen in Northern England
