I have been reading the travel card vs. Oyster card topic and need to see if I understand it correctly. I am still unsure if I understand it correctly. I will need a 1 week travel card.

If I buy a travel card then I need to bring a passport photo for it or do I need a separate id card to go with it?

If I buy a travel card at a National Rail Station, then I can use it with the 2 for 1 coupons which I print on line. Correct?

The travel card is good for the number of consecutive days that I purchase it for. Correct?

It is good for tube, National Rail trains and bus service. Correct?

When I use it, do I put it in the ticket machine at the entrance or do I show it to a live person? Would like the correct procedure so I don't hold up other riders.

How do I find a National Rail Station near where I will be staying? I will be coming in on the Eurostar and staying near Earl's Court tube station?

Most of the major museums and tourist sights are in zone 1 and 2. Correct?

Only will need 1 ride to Heathrow when we leave so it would be best to buy that ticket separately. Correct?

Does your travel group have more than one traveler? If not, then the travelcard does nothing for you because the 2for1 offer is literally two tickets for the price of one, not one ticket for 50% off.

To answer your cross-examination:

<i>It is good for tube, National Rail trains and bus service. Correct?</i> Yes but ONLY within the zones for which you purchase the card. Your travelcard will not work for National Rail trains that exit your zone; same goes for Tube and bus lines. You cannot use a Zone 1-2 card to travel to Hampton Court Palace (zone 6).

<i>When I use it, do I put it in the ticket machine at the entrance or do I show it to a live person? </i> This is ambiguous: "ticket machine at the entrance." Thus, neither; there is a ticket slot on the turnstyles. It's not that hard to figure out.

I will be coming in on the Eurostar and staying near Earl's Court tube station?</i> You will be coming in on the Eurostar to a NATIONAL RAIL STATION called St Pancras, buy the travelcard there. You can post-date the travelcard to start the next day (although you're going to need transport to your hotel so you should start it from your arrival date - taxis from St Pancras to Earl's Court will cost about the same as a 7-day travelcard.

Sort of.

If you exit the Eurostar secure area and follow signs for the tube, the only ticket desks you'll pass will be operated by London Underground or Eurostar - neither of which sell the paper Travelcards with the National Rail logo necessary for the 2 for 1 promotion.

You need briefly, after going through the doorways out of the Eurostar secure area, to follow signs in the opposite direction from the tube, heading towards the platforms for domestic railway operators. The main National Rail ticket office is adjacent to the barriers for the First Capital Connect platforms.
