Looking for a hotel in Prague with charm

Can anyone recommend a modestly priced conveniently located hotel in Prague? We would love to find something with atmosphere, possibly historic. Also I would love any suggestions on favorite restaurants, things to do,etc. Thanks
We recently visited Prague and stayed in a wonderful guesthous. Beautiful old home and the hosts, George and Jan Parouza were very friendly and helpful. They spoke English fluently. Email address is: [email protected]

If you email the Parouzas they will contact you with more info.

. They had 2 tupes of rooms available and rooms were very reqasonably priced. Prague was wonderful, very cheap compared to the rest of Europe.

Email AVE Accommodations at [email protected] We used them & found a great place to stay. You give them your requirements & they offer places that the guidebooks said are better listings in all price ranges. Don't miss the Charles Bridge at night. Take the half-day tour to see to where you may wish to return. There are some day trips until Oct. 31 to some interesting outlying cities. Prague is beautiful. The Symphony/Opera has balcony boxes for less that $20 & is lovely.

My husband is the US contact for an American and Czech couple that runs a genealogical research and travel business based in Prague. Contact Tom by e-mail at [email protected]. He can also arrange english-speaking guides both within Prague and surrounding countryside. There's more info posted on his website at www.terminal.cz/~pathfinders
Tom is now an ex-patriate American living permanently in Prague, having gone only for a family history research project.
Have a great trip.

Lisa, We stayed at a great place in Mala Strana, near the Charles Bridge, in '97 - - Pension Ditzenhofer(sp?). The price was under $100, and we had a very large room with bath looking out toward Kampa Island. The proprietors were friendly and showed real concern for the guests, For example, a problem at the time was taxi scams, and the owners arranged to pick us up at the train station and then took us to the airport. Have a good time, Joe
