looking for an apartment in the Marais

In May, we stayed at Hotel St. Thomas D'Auquin in the 7th and while we really liked the area I realized that I prefer the Marais. Does anyone have suggestions for a good apartment, well located in the Marais? I found a place on Rue Tresor, a really charming street, however it is a two bedroom and larger than we need. We are looking for a week rental next May.

A couple years ago we rented an apartment on rue Chapon and liked it very much. It was through rentparis.com (www.rentparis.com/availibilities.php?l=en

It was the first one listed. Their site now lists that apartment as a one bedroom for 2 guests but we had three people and I think at the time it was even advertised for 4. There's a nice king size bed in the bedroom and the sofa pulls out to a double bed but wasn't very comfortable. Maybe that's why now they say 2 guests. Anyway, we thought it was fine and loved the location.

I also used RentParis.com for a week-long rental in the Marais this past June. The apartment was located on Simon le Franc, just across the street from the Pompideau Center. No complaints at all about the experience...

We stayed in this apartment in the Marais http://www.vrbo.com/79965 in May 2007. It was one block from the Chemin Vert metro, had a bakery on one corner and a grocery store on another. Several very good restaurants in the area. A couple of blocks from Place des Vosges. The owners live upstairs and are very nice and helpful. It is a very large apartment - but only one bedroom. I think it is a good value for the $$.

I just finalized a rental in the Marais from Parisbestlodge.com. I went to this site after reading many glowing reviews from fellow Fodorites. The owner Thierry was a delight to deal with. My rental is for next May so i can not give you any more info. He had several apartments in the Marais area. Good luck.
