Malaga and rain

We are planning a trip to Malaga over Christmastime and I see that it is rainy there. So when it rains in Malaga how much rain are we talking? On and off showers? Downpour? All day or just part of the day? Does the rain make it a damp cold or what type of feeling is it in terms of what type of clothes to bring for that climate in December?

Thanks!

Depends.. could be flooding.. then gobs of sunshine for days or weeks. one never knows. Yesterday in Valencia it rained all day and now we have sunshine. Has snowed around the country also. Just keep checking closer to the date but this is not the Caribbean or beach weather in Spain in December if that is what you are looking for.

When it rains it can be very damp, especially at sea level of course. Up in the mountains it will be/feel drier.

Late December weather is obviously difficult to predict, but for what it's worth, this is the averages for two weeks in Málaga from December 24 based on the past fourteen years statistics.

Day highs 60-67°F, night lows 45-54°F
Rainfall five out of fourteen days, and an average of five hours sun per day. Rainfalls are often heavy.

But may I add that when the sun does come out it is BLISS!

Just layer clothes as the temps will differ by many degrees from 8 am til noon and then in the evening dropping seriously once the sun has hidden itself.

We've had steady rain for a couple of days, and stopped early afternoon. Clouds parted and had a golden sunset. Clear now (9:00PM). It gets damp, but it dries soon if sunny.

Thank you for your replies! We are used to layering and looking forward to Mr. Sun when he decides to shine!

I was in Malaga for Christmas about three years ago and it was a week of glorious weather - I dont know if I was just lucky. It was in the early 70s but cold at night. Have a great time and Merry Christmas.

Weather in the 70's F and even a little mixed rain (no floods thank you) will be nicer than the -celcius and snow I see out my window right now!
