Mt Titlus Engelberg mountain
We want to visit Mt Titlus on 31 January 2015.
We don't want to pay an arm and a leg. We would like to do our own self guided tour. Were a family of 6.
Can anyone give me any ideas on how to book.( internet site?)
or can we book when we are in Lucerne?
Well be staying in Lucerne from 28 December - 1 January 2015
Thanks

What is it that you want to book? Chairlift, cable car or hotel? If you're talking about a day trip, bear in mind that the days are still short at the end of January and the sun will set about 5:30pm, so if it's scenery you want, you'll have to bear that in mind.
You should be fine if it's just the cable car, but the last one down is around 4:45pm. The train journey to Engelberg is only around 45 mins. from Lucerne.

Very easily done. Take the train from Luzern main station to Engleberg. From the Engleberg station the cablecar station is about a ten-minute walk. The cablecar ascends in three different stages. The final stage is done in the so-called "Rotair' gondola which rotates as it ascends and descends.
I doubt you'll really need to buy any tickets in advance. If you are traveling using a railpass there would be a discount on the cablecar fare.

Like dukey says you need no advance reservations nor are any possible I believe to do any part of the trip - just hop on any train with a valid ticket or pass and then in Engelberg just scoot over to the gondola and buy a return ticket for that. This is a busy ski season you you may have to wait a bit.
check these sites for relevant info on this and Swiss trains and gondolas, etc: www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

Huh? How is this going to work out?
No need to buy tickets in advance, they don't sell out. Round trip Engelberg - Titlis is 89 CHF for an adult, 50% discount with a Swiss Pass. Children are free with Junior Card.
