Is it worth seeing! We noticed it is a bit out of the way if you go to Corinth, Epidarous and then to Olympia. Please let us know.

It's definitely worth seeing. But I can't comment on the distances.... it's awhile since we were there. We stopped there on the way to Monemvasia. (Does Fodor's have a book on Greece?)

Well, they do. It's just that we have three days and want to make the most of those days. Nafplion, Epidarous, Olympia, Delphi and Sounion. So it is a bit out of the way but would do it if worth it. Fodors recommends it but it seems a long drive for just one location.

Yes, Mystras is worth seeing. It's very different from other sites, as is totally Bizantine, as opposed to other Greek sites. The landscape is beautiful, too.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR><BR>S

I agree, Mystras is spectacular, lots of ruined houses, frescoed chapels and the palace of the despots, all set on a hill overlooking the plain of Sparta. But you won't squeeze all that into 3 days. It's 3 hours direct drive from Athens - excluding time taken to drive across Athens which can be up to an hour.<BR>It's 1.5 hours from Nafplion.<BR><BR>Have a read of <BR><BR>www.i-escape.com/greece.php <BR><BR>(click on Peloponnese) for more ideas of what to see and where to stay.<BR>

If you make it down that far to Sparta, why not stay in Monevasia? We spent 3 unforgettable days in that ancient seaside village. It is well worth the trip. My only regret is not stopping and staying in Sparta to see Mystras!
