Naples hotel and museum
Will be in Naples at the end of October to visit the museum. any suggestings for a good hotel closeby the Museo Archeologico? Will then visit and stay in Sorrento. Want to spend one night in Capri before returning to Rome, any suggestions?
thanks

There are three average business-style large hotels within 20 minutes walking distance of the Museo Archeologico: Hotel Mediterraneo, Hotel Oriente and Jolly Hotel, all four-stars and all near the central Piazza Municipio. There are a couple of hotels (e.g. Albergo Sansevero, Alloggio Sansevero, both two stars) which are much closer to the museum, but these are very small properties which cater more to tourists. So much depends upon your idea of a "good" hotel and how close it needs to be to the Museo.

I agree with the Carol above about staying in Sorrento. Be aware that the museum has early hours, or it used to. Be wary of pickpockets, as I almost lost my purse in that area.
This place http://www.laminervacapri.com/ looks nice on Capri, haven't stayed there though. Although we always took the hydrofoil there (fun) since Sorrento usually has more nightlife/activity.

The museum is ~150m from the Cavour metro stop, so you also have other hotel/area options that are along the metro route.
I'm going to assume here. Naples is just a 1-nighter? You'll be arriving by train and taking the Circumvesuvana to Sorrento the next day?
If so, leave your bags at the luggage storage area at the train station. Take a small overnight bag and go right to the museum. They have a bag check at the museum and leave your bag (double-check though, this info is 2 yrs old). After the museum go to your hotel and check-in. Regards, Walter

I loved staying in the historic center of Napoli when I was there last fall. My hotel was the Albergo San Severo Degas, right off the Piazza del Gesu. It's an easy walk from there to the Museo, and the Santa Chiara church and its beautiful cloisters are just across the piazza.

Rooms are simple, but spotlessly clean, with matching furnishings.
