random thoughts/questions.
• You have two very young children - that would be too much territory to cover solo, but w/ a toddler next to impossible. Four major cities plus an additional whole country. London being the 'major-est' in size and sites.

• airbnb's are mostly illegal in both Paris and Amsterdam (a few are legal but you need to confirm they have the registration details)

• Italy is a country -- so what part(s) are you interested in visiting?

• You mention from/to Glasgow -- do you live in Glasgow or are you flying in there from overseas?

• When is this trip?

• What sort of budget are you talking about?

This is VERY weird -- there is a thread by rose5678 which I just answered. But now the OP's post disappeared and only my post shows. I have no idea what happened.

The OP's initial post was not there when I first looked; just janisj's two answers. Now I can see the OP's post. It is, indeed, very weird!

@ Rose: I'm sorry to say that I don't think your plan is realistic. I would encourage you to do some research (guidebooks would be a great place to begin!) and work with a map and a calendar. Good luck!

I think you need to de-select at least one of your objectives
London ,italy ,paris ,amsterdam in 14 days ,Brussels

Italy is a big place.
London needs about 5 nights to get even a comfortable view of it
Paris, just for a flavour needs a bare minimum of 3 nights
note that I'm thinking in nights not days
Amsterdam 3 nights, Brussels 3 nights.
Italy about 40 years.

Drop into a library

You've got way too much on your plate. It will be hell traveling to all those places with 2 young children, and in August, prime European vacation time.

What does "Italy" mean to you? It's an entire country - you could spend months there and not see it all, years in fact.

London needs 5 days and one could argue that Paris does too. Brussels can be overlooked by most travelers (though I like it). Amsterdam can be done I suppose n 3 days, and there goes your vacation.

You have picked expensive destinations and don't say what your budget is, but do beware of airbnb in Paris and Amsterdam - most apartments/rentals are illegal.

Hard to believe OP lives in Glasgow because of the spelling.

Rose's request is the classic jam-it-all-in itinerary. What she seeks is logistically impracticable and logically impossible when corralling 6 adults and two small children.

Rethink this.

Lordy -- I noticed the two little ones but totally skipped over the 6 adults part. Even more difficult dragging 8 people around.

Yes way too much - London, Paris and Amsterdam with flight to Glasgow possible but Italy is an outlier and really if going there you likely want to see Rome, Venice and Florence -leave that till separate trip.

Maybe fly Glasgow to Amsterdam
Take Thalys train to Paris (forget Brussels with your time restraints) - 3.5 hours
Take Eurostar train to London - 2 hrs
Take train to Glasgow - 6 hrs ? (Also an overnight train London-Glasgow I believe.)

Amsterdam 3 nights
Paris 5 nights
London 5 nights

Possibly do day trips from Paris and London to many nearby great places.

Book those trains as early as possible for greatly reduced fares over full fare - www.thalys.com; www.eurostar.com - www.seat61.com has loads on doing that online yourselves - general train info - BETS-European Rail Experts and www.ricksteves.com.

If want to stop in Belgium take days away from London and Paris.

Thank you very much all, for your feedback. Looks like i will have to drop 1-2 places from the wishlist.
I am travelling from Singapore to Glasgow where i have my relatives. From there we plan to travel around UK (Scotland, London).
i wish to visit Venice, Rome and Paris for sure. So looks like London, Paris, Rome, Florence & venice can be fitted in 14 days and then back to Glasgow
if i allocate 5 days each to London and Italy, any suggestions where can i look out for cheap stay (AirBnB preferably as we are 8 ppl) which is convenient to travel from?
how do i plan it and which mode of transport should i take while travelling across countries and travelling within London/Italy.. I am keen to try train route? Can we rent a car in London/Italy for local transport as we have international driving livence. If yes, any car rental contact?
Apols for the spell error on Glasgow!
thanks in advance.

Not really, as you are not counting on the travel time between them, whether it is by airplane or train. Each move will take up a good part, or all, of a day, and you've got 5 destinations listed, so you'll lose 4-5 days out of your 14, leaving you with 2 days per destination, or 3 for a couple of destinations and 1 for others - that won't work.

If you are figuring 5 days each in London and Italy, when you add in travel time, you're at your limit.

A car will be utterly useless, a complete liability, in any of those cities.

With that manny people you will need a big car, trouble is you will see a lot of motorway and then find the car utterly useless in any of the cities you visit.

PQ offers some of the best links on how to use the train system. If you do need to hire a car, probably best to hire it in the country you are going to use it in, if you hire say in France and drop it back in Belgium you will get hit by large Drop off fees.

Glad to see you are thinking of cutting, really cut hard and then you will find time to enjoy the holiday

Yes trains if just going pt A big city to Pt B big city - for reasons given above. Many trains these days have family compartments and kids areas.

No that doesn't really work. Taking 8 people to 3 cities (Rome, Florence, Venice) in only 5 days within Italy, is possible, but not really a very practial plan.

Also when you are staying in cities only 1-2 nights I think hotels will be a lot better idea than trying to do private rentals or B&Bs for such short stays.

I think you could do something like skip London... and go to Venice 4 days, Rome 5 days, 5 days Paris = 14.

Or London 5 days, Paris 5 days, Venice 4 days = 14.

I'm pretty sure that isn't what happened here since her edit is before I saw/opened the thread. But no matter. All looks OK now.

There is an overnight train from Venice and Milan to Paris. Thello ? Trains France-Italie - site officiel - save daylight travel time that is precious to you - book three adjoining (if possible) private double or triple or quad compartments -kids may think a real adventure.
