Need Help with Easter in Portugal

In the middle of a 3-month trip to Spain, Morocco, and Portgual, without a car, my wife and I will be in the area of Obidos, Portugal from Maundy Thursday April 13, 2017 through Tuesday April 18.

Our plan is to spend Thursday and Friday night in Obidos, then spend Sat, Sun and Mon night in Leiria (base).

Thursday and Friday we enjoy Obidos - no day trips.
Saturday travel from Obidos to Leiria and maybe visit Batalha or Alcobaca on the way.
Sunday enjoy Easter in Leiria and maybe daytrip to Naraze.
Monday, daytrip to Batalha and/or Alcobaca if not yet visited.
Tuesday leave for Coimbra.

We are pretty sure we will spend Thursday and Friday in Obidos but are wondering whether Alcobaca would be a better base than Leiria for Sat, Sun, Monday. Yes? No? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Also would like to know to what extent restaurants and shops will be open/closed over Easter.

I'm assuming there will be less public transportation over Easter but that we can use online schedules to plan for that.

So please your comments. Thanks!

Obidos is tiny and exists today for tourism. You can use it as a base to explore Alcobaça, Nazare. But don't plan to spend two days in Obidos itself; two hours would be enough time for the town.

Agreed. Obidos is a cute tourist town, worth a couple of hours or so wandering around. If you were staying at the parador it might be worth an overnight, otherwise it's a half day trip.

How long are you staying in Lisbon? I would rather be there over Easter.

thursdaysd,

We will be in Lisbon around April 1st...What I need help on is not so much where to spend Easter in Portugal but how to best spend Easter in the area around Obidos. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the feedback!

What do you like to do most when you travel? Or what are you most looking forward to about being in Portugal?
