Need suggestions for second day in Cappadocia

We are going to be in Cappadocia as part of the tour for one day. Below is listed what we will be doing on that day. I am planning to extend our stay in Cappadocia for another day. What should we do on second day? Do we need a car or a guide for second day? We will be staying at Urgup Evi Cave Hotel. Thank you in advance for your help!

First day plan:
Early Morning: Ballon Tour. After breakfast, visit the Byzantine frescoed chapels at Goreme then continue on to rock formations at Pasabagi Valley , visit Ozkonak, eight-story underground city, and finally a local pottery making village, Avanos.

You might want to spend the second day relaxing a little. You will be up very early for your balloon flight and then have quite a busy day. If you have energy, you could consider a guided walk. The Ilhara Valley is very pretty, and there are restaurants for lunch. The following company might be able to offer you a tailor made visit there:

Dear Helen63,

You can perfectly spend the second day by visiting;

a. Sinassos (Mustafapasa)
b. Keslik Monastery
(For more info please read my post at Tip1 http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/p...=20&t=1718)
c. Ihlara Valley (A valley walk between Ihlara and Belisirma village)

And as "worldinabag" suggests attend the Sema Ritual of Whirling Dervishes in Sarihan dating back to 13th century.

Enjoy your second day in Cappadocia.

With all good wishes.

Do you want to see more churches or see more nature or tour old towns (such as Mustafapasa?
If you want to hike independently and see more of the amazing rock formations, you can set off yourself from Goreme. Just ask your hotel for a map and suggestions. You can do a good long loop or catch a bus back to Goreme from a nearby town.
If you want to walk in the Ihlara valley, quite a different and pleasant environment but also with frescoed chapels, then ask for a driver (you don't really need a guide). They will drop you off and pick you up--and can make other stops such as the Selime Monastery and the town of Guzelyurt.
Your hotel may offer group tours as well, so you could check that upon arrival.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions! I noticed that our tour visits Ozkonak undeground city, while eveyone else visits KAYMAKLI.

Will I miss anything by not visiting Kaymakli?

It is just for the sake of the practicality of the itinerary. Your tour basically covers the central and northern regions of Cappadocia (Göreme-Pasabagi,Ozkonak & Avanos) whereas Kaymaklý is located in the southern part of Cappadocia. Moreover, Ozkonak underground city is less crowded, more easily walkable and more spacious than Kaymakli.
