Edinburgh is probably the biggest/most fun. I'd like to try Vienna - it would likely be amazing too . . . . .

So what's happening in Edinburgh to make it special/that much fun?
Just being curious - and who knows, we don't have plans yet...

I know that a lot of Americans from our base (a few hours south of Edinburgh) spend their New Year's Eve there and always come back saying that it's the MOST fantastic NY's party they have ever attended. I haven't been to Edinburgh at that time of year, so I can't testify to that, myself.

I haven't made plans either. Never been to Edinburgh, but maybe I can be enticed. So, please, tell me more.

I haven't gotten there YET (maybe this year--if I can afford it after Malta in October) but Iceland looks to have some really cool New Year celebrations, with bonfires all around and such.

Reykjavik rocks!

Ah, well, there are still many, many places-to-go on my list, but Malta is my little trip this year for its incredible history and archaeological sites rather than for its coast or the resort areas.

So far, Iceland is my favorite country of all I've been to; here's hoping that I can get there for New Year's to round out the two summer trips and a fall one.

Happy trails!
