New Yorkers who know Paris

I am trying to figure out which arrond.in Paris would be the closest feel to the west village in NYC.
Any ideas?
Thanks

The Marais comes close, but still more Chelsea Boy than West Village.

The Marais...the 4ème....sort of, but it's Paris, so it's not the same.

Maybe the Marais--but with all the new upscale shops, the 6th bears some similarities. Also parts of the 5th could remind someone of the areas near NYU.

In short, forget these types of comparisons--better to state what you would like to find in your Paris hotel/apt neighborhood and get some recommendations..

Do you want high-end shopping? Do you want a "hip" area? Do you want nightlife? What age range for these?
