Nice France Villa La Tour
We have been to Nice several times and will return in May. We usually stay at Hotel Harvey. I would like a change. Has anyone stayed at Villa La Tour? Any other suggestions for a mid range/price hotel?

hi aj...im also looking for a nice hotel in Nice, going to be there for 2 nights in June...since you have been there several times, can you enlighten me which would be the best area to stay in if i would like to have quick access to the beach? is promenade des anglais the only location for this?

We found a great rate online for Hotel La Perouse a few years ago. The location was perfect. There was a market everyday down the hill and the beach was right across the street. The pool is sort of set next to a cliff. Very nice. I see the average rate is very high, and the people checking out in front of us spent hundreds of euros more for the same room we had. I don't remember how I found the great discount. I think through travelocity or expedia, etc. or possibly the hotel's own website. They upgraded us for free without even asking when we got there because it was our first stay. It was a very nice place.

I was looking at Hotel La Perouse as well!
the cheapest i could find was 330euros per night for a seaview room...I did think of booking a cheaper room and keeping my fingers crossed for an upgrade, but in june...im not so sure that will happen...

They upgraded us from just a plain old garden view room to one with a large balcony and a side seaview. I doubt they would upgrade you all the way to full seaview. (The place is sort of on a peninsula) If that is very necessary to you then I would book it. We didn't need it because if you just walk out the front door of the hotel you have a sea view. The pool area also has a very nice seaview as well. Heck, all of Nice has a great seaview. I forgot that the beach isn't directly across the street, but it is easy to walk to.
