I think places are being filled up in Nice hotels as I speak. PDLM no longer has rooms available on quite a few sites, including the hotel's official website.
Was thinking of waiting a while before booking for 2 nights in June, but looks like I have to do it fast!

Anyone can recommend which I should try for?
A Partial Seaview Room at PDLM or Seaview Balcony at La Perouse?

the descriptions of the rooms are driving me crazy... what is the meaning of partial seaview at PDLM, and what is the difference between Seaview Balcony and Seaview Terrace (both descriptions provided by Asiarooms.com)

Go for the seaview balcony at La Pérouse. The balcony is large enough to sit out on and has a table and chairs; the terrace is larger and has a lounger (or two). The partial seaview would be one of the rooms that looks at both the Mediterranean and the château rock rather than a full view. You should be able to view rooms at the La Pérouse's own web site: http://www.hotel-la-perouse.com/ The La Pérouse has a swimming pool and an extremely nice roof terrace, complete with a small gym.

If you want real Provençal feel and décor, the La Pérouse is for you. The Palais is contemporary in feel, and it is also considerably farthr from Vieux Nice and the Place Masséna.

I've stayed in a balcony room at La Perouse and it was great. My problem was finding a spot to park my rental car. I finally parked it below ground under the flower market area.

We stayed at Le Palais de la Mediterranee, and liked it, although the view from our "seaview" room was partially obstructed by giant pillars on the front of the main building. THe room itself was very comfortable, and the hotel had excellent services ( great breakfast, small health club and pool, casino which we never went to, GREAT concierge. The hotel is a very short walk from Vieux Nice, (about ten minutes), and has its own private beach club across the street, although I don't think the cost is included with your room. BTW, that's typical for most of the hotels that face the sea in Nice...

And yes, the decor is quite modern, almost business-like, so if you're looking for a more charming, Provencal type decor, definitely go to La Perouse.

I loved La Perouse. I'll never forget having breakfast outside and plucking a lemon from the tree beside my table.
It tasted almost like a greatfruit!

The La Pérouse has an arrangement for parking with the underground garage at the Cours Saléya; I don't know what the current charge is, though. That's certainly the best option.

We won't be renting a car though... so no worries about parking.

Intend to take a bus/train to Monaco, just for a look.
So, when is Monaco best? Morning or Afternoon?
(Don't dare to risk evening...what if no bus/train to get back!)
