ONE OR TWO STAR HOTELS-ANYONE RECOMMEND ANY ON THE FRENCH RIVIERA

There are many one and two star hotels listed in Cannes, Menton and Nice but I don't see too many recommendations. Can anyone help, obviously cleanliness and comfort are important but when one is out all day, I'd rather spend the extra on nice restaurants or sightseeing. I have emailed a few but they often do not bother to reply. Has anyone else found this, it has been the worst area in Europe to get a response.

Hi Kathy. I stayed in Beaulieu last year with a friend. It was at the Residence Eiffel, but it must be rented for a week at a time.
I know they have a website, unfortunately it was all in French the last time I checked. This may not be a problem for you, though.
Look it over and if you have any questions, you are welcome to email me.

Hi Kathy,
i can recommend two in Nice. They're right next door to each other, right on Promenade des Anglais. Clean, staffed with helpful, friendly folks who're fluent in English, and I think you'll find each of them a very good value.

The first one is the Hotel Flots d'Azur at 101 Promenade des Anglais. Their web site is www.flotsdazur.com, so you can check it out.

For the Hotel Eden, at 99 bis, Promenade des Anglais, the telephone# is 04.9386.53.70 and the fax is 04.93.97.67.97

My personal preference (an IMO, the better value) is the Flots d'Azur.

Bon Voyage,
BC

A very cheap, clean Hotel in Menton is Claridges - walking distance from the station, market etc. It is very basic, but clean, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly! Staff at reception speaks quite well English.

O yes, and another plus - 2 blocks from EuropeCar!

I stayed in hotel Paris-Rome, which I believe was a 3-star, but very reasonable. If memory serves I only paid 50 or so Euros per night for a single.
