I'd check back again next Wednesday night. The Wall Street Journal just featured an article suggesting that airline tix are at their cheapest on Wednesday nights. I didn't get a chance to read the rest of the article, but maybe somebody else here did?

See http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...p;tid=34718277 where the context of this posting originated.
It would be better to continue this added info there...
... still, having said that... a fare fluctuation, in December, for a flight next May? means nothing...
Best wishes,
Rex

You may have a problem getting ff tickets to Rome, but I'll bet if you go to Rime via London you'll do fine.
I did that 2 years ago with American.
Same ff miles. Just ell them a stop somewhere is ok.
AA gateways are London, Brussels, Paris, Zurich that may work out. You'll even be able to stop in that city in one direction for a few days.
You may have to do a stop over going from east to west as the first plane may arrive at the cheng too late.
This June we're stopping in Brussels to visit Brugge and Amsterdam after Prague and Budapest.
