Paris perfect apartments?

I have just come across the apartments of parisperfect.com. They are so beautifully done in the website. Are they that way in real life? Also, how is the location of the apartments? What is next to it? cafes, shops? Is there security?

I recently contacted them about a couple of the apartments I looked at on their website. They responded that it was too early to book for next summer as they don't know what will be available. But they were able to tell me that both apartments I inquired about were already rented for next summer. What? If they don't book that far ahead, how could these apartments already be booked? They suggested I contact them about a month before I arrive -- when I will already be in Europe. I found another source for apartment rental.

OOPS! I apologize, I was thinking of another agency that specialized in Isle St. Louis apartments. I just rechecked the Paris Perfect website. I didn't contact them as I felt I could save up to $100 a night in a nice hotel with full services. Plus none of their apartments seemed in a neighborhood that I really wanted.

I may be mistaken but aren't the Paris Perfect apartments located around the 16th district only?

We stayed in the Champagne apartment last summer and it was the highlight of our trip! All I can say is that the apartment was nicer than on the website: beautifully remodelled, with the best furnishings and with every detail -- lots of hot water, chrome hooks for hanging, good dishes -- everything. The neighborhood was full of shops and cafe's and we were provided with an excellent 'booklet' of ideas of things to do, open markets, street markets in the neighborhood. We felt so at home that we didn't want to leave! There are tons of shops and open markets within a few minutes walk because it's a real french neighborhood in the center of Paris.
WE've stayed in Paris every year for the past 8 years and this is by far the best selection for quality and price that we've stayed in. WE've already booked for next year.
The owner, Philippe couldn't have been easier to work with, answering our numerous questions before we left and refunded our deposit promptly. They helped organize our arrival and keys with no problem.
The neighborhood is our favorite in Paris, the 7th. It's on the left bank and close to everything, but is still unspoiled by the turistas, like the 6th and Isle St. Louis. It's one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Paris and very safe.

It's better value than any hotel in Paris, period. Where else could we find a beautiful living room, granite kitchen, dining room, beautiful bedroom for the same price as a decent hotel -- with an unbelievable view?? Most hotels in Paris are the size of postage stamps at the same price.

We sent friends to parisperfect last month and they stayed at the Cabernet apartment. They just sent us a thank you and said the same thing; the apartment and view are better than the pictures. Long answer, but we're recommending to all of our friends! Pat

Pat, I think there are many of us who like staying in the the 6th district that you mention as being filled with "turistas". Believe it or not you are one of these "turistas" as well although you prefer to stay in the 7th.

We are currently staying at parisperfect.com apartment "Champagne" in the 7th arrondisement. I agree with everything that Pat said at pat
@ingia.com. We have been coming to Paris for two years now and the 7th is our favorite!! Read what Pat said. Also the parisperfect website is full of great information. We are here for four weeks and will definitely return on our next visit. Several buses right outside the apartment and everything we nees within two blocks. The owners Madelyne and Phillip could not be more helpful and kind. My husband and I are way past 60 years old and feel like kids again!! Don't pass this opportunity up!

Gena

I'm booked to stay in "Bordeaux" for a week in March and I'm just so looking forward to it!

I believe all the apartments are in the 7th arrondissement and I noticed on their website that they now have a place in London.

Patti

For those of you who have booked these apartments where do you pick up the keys? I've known of apartment agencies that have you running half way around Paris to get the keys for your flat, which is not a joy with jetlag.

Our experience with parisperfect.com was the best we've had in ten years of visiting Paris. We were met at the apartment with the keys, the accommodations were first class (better than the pictures), the Eiffel Tower views spectacular, the neighborhood lovely (7th arrondisement), and worth every penny. We are now recommending Madelyn and Philippe's apartments to all our friends, and have our reservations in for next summer. Pat is right! The location couldn't be more convenient and safe. Go for it!

I'm so excited to be reading such high reviews of the ParisPerfect apartments. We are booked to stay in one of them from late April to early May. They look (and sound!) gorgeous - I can't wait.

I just got back from 5 nights at the Bordeaux, a Paris Perfect apartment. I thought it was just OK, nothing great. The Eiffel Tower view was only seen if you craned you neck a bit. The furnishing were fine, the smells awful. The main annoyance though was the fact that the owners seem obsessed with the cost of electricity. Each and every time we left the apartment we had to completely shut off the heat and lights. This means that every day, after walking around frigid but beautiful Paris for 8 or 10 hours straight, we came home to an absolutely freezing accommodation. The owner also had the heat on some kind of timer so that no matter where you raised it to at night, it went back to where he thought it should be. Also, nobody left us any instructions regarding the appliances. It sounds silly but we couldn't even get the stereo to work. Everything was left unplugged (even the alarm clock) so we had to find all the outlets, crawl around the floor, etc. In sum, the apartment was okay, but next time I will stay somewhere else.

We just returned from Paris. Stayed in Parisvacationapartments.com (Rue Cortot) and had a terrific time. We had the opposite experience in our apartment as "WishIwasthere." Someone met us when we arrived, and showed us how to use all the appliances, including the complicated washer/dryer combo. No problem with leaving the heat on day/night. We had bus schedules, tour books, and she was available day or night for questions, make restaurant reservations, etc.

The first morning we were there, the shower nozzle broke. I called, left voice mail, and went out for the day to tour. When we got back in the afternoon, we had a new shower nozzle. Everyone associated seemed to go out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. We will definitely use them again.
I know that to many people being able to see the Eiffel Tower from their hotel window is a big thing. But honestly I find the 7th a very dull area. Of course there are some nice restaurants and things there as there are everywhere in Paris, but there are so many places that are so much nicer than the location of those Paris Perfect apartments. I find their location to be the biggest drawback.

Susan,
I think we can discuss endlessly about the 'best' location in Paris, incidentally in any larger city.

It's good, we don't all have the same preferences. The 7th seems to be a favourite of many Americans, while the Montparnasse area (6th/14th) seems more popular with Europeans.
The 4th, 5th and 6th are probably popular with just anybody.
If it wasn't that far out, I would love to stay somewhere in the 16th. But I like to go back to my hotel during the day. At least, I want to have that possibility.
So, really, it's very personal and I think it's not fair, to call the 7th dull. Also, not all the 7th is the same. Some areas are livelier than others.
If I was a resident, I would probably love to live somewhere in the 7th, not necessarily in the Rue Cler area, though, rather next to the border of the 6th.
I used to live in the 6th for a couple of years and it was fine at that time. Now, I find most parts too crowded and expensive. That's why I am staying in Montparnasse and because the access to public transportation (bus and metro) is excellent.

I need to say a couple of things about Paris Perfect, because I noticed a negative comment. I made a reservation with them a few months ago after seeing someone mention them favorably on a different travel site.

We aren't go until July, but I have been corresponding with the proprietors off and on since then, and have had a couple of phone conversations. What wonderful, wonderful people! This is a small business run by a French man and his American wife. Their picture must be located next to the word "gracious" in the dictionary.

They sent me a ineresting and comprehensive guide to the neighborhood that includes information from them and guests who have stayed there. I mentioned that I have multiple sclerosis and can be sensitive to heat, and while the apartments are not air conditioned they've promised that if I'm not cool enough with the fans that they'll get a portable air conditioner.

I'm sorry, but having dealt with Madelyn and Philippe I am having a very difficult time believing the negative review posted here. I'd advise people to take it with a major-league grain of salt. I have traveled to all 50 states in the U.S., most of Europe and some of Asia and have stayed in all kinds of places from high to low.

It so happens that I am a landlord in the U.S. myself, and I know what it can be like to have a tenant who refuses to be satisfied no matter what you do. I will of course follow up with a review after our stay, but my gut feel is that the apartment is going to be lovely.

I noticed Willy Wilson's comment regarding the parisperfect apartments. You are in for a real treat. We stayed at the "Bordeaux" apartment in December and it could not have been more perfect! We also had all the positive pre-trip experiences that Willy had and he is right in assuming that they foretell good things to come.

The apartment is beautifully furnished and equipped, with a great cook's kitchen and lots of hot water. The view of the Eiffel Tower and the street life is reminiscent of an impressionistic painting and the building itself is well maintained and quiet. We loved running out to the boulangerie in the morning for croissants and then devouring them in the bright and cheerful dining area and then later lounging on the comfortable couches in the bright living room after a busy day exploring the city.

We found Madelyn and Philippe's neighborhood guide extremely helpful and made many a visit to the Rue Cler for everything from wonderful cheeses to fresh truffles. There are some fantastic restaurants just a stones throw away from the apartment and, of course, the 7th is a great walking arrondissement.

We have rented other apartments in Paris but this was the best. We are booked to return in late December to usher in the new year.

Willy, you are right to take the negative review with a grain of salt! I suspect that you will find whichever apartment you are renting from them more than lovely.

After reading these reviews I have to see for myself.
I just booked the Montrochet for 4 nights this September. It will by my first time in Paris and I will have my 6 yr old daughter & 9 year old son.
The apartments are a little more than what we planned on spending, but for a view and location like that I think it's worth the extra money!
If anyone has stayed at the Montrochet I would love to hear what they thought.
Also, if anyone can suggest a cheap garage to leave my car in I would appreciate it. Or, would I be able to find a spot next to the curb and leave it there for 4 nights?

Last fall I rented an apartment from Paris Perfect, and it was a wonderful experience. I don't understand how anyone could have a bad experience in these apartments. The one I chose was Cabernet on their website, and it was as others have said, even better than the website. The furnishings are a perfect mix of antiques and contemporary pieces. There is an unbelievable view of the Eiffel Tower from the living/ dining room, and the bedroom opens on to a very quiet courtyard...much quieter than my own bedroom at home. The neighborhood is safe and charming, and close to many wonderful shops. Madelyn and Philippe could not have been more helpful. I am pleased to say that I am returning to Cabernet this fall.
