Paris/Riviera/Italy/Germany in May
Within a fortnight you should be able to do this. There are fast trains (TGV) from Paris to the South (including some where you can sleep overnight on the train). Allow 5 hours to Marseille and another 2 or so from there to Nice and another hour to Italian frontier. Although the same rolling stock can be used along the Riviera, there are no dedicated fast tracks - hence the slower speeds. If you travel a lot by train, think about one of the go-as-you-please tickets. You can get them First and second class.

I think you are planning too many locations to fully enjoy within a two week period, since you are travelling on your own.
However, suggest reversing your itinerary to end up in Paris. Recommend flying to Frankfurt, Germany, have a rental car ready for pickup, drive directly to Heidelberg, and spend three nights there. Then drive to Interlacken, Switzerland, for three nights; Lake Como, Italy, for three nights; and the Riviera for three nights. Then drive to Paris, turn in the car, and spend the rest of your time there using shanks mare and public transportation. Fly back out of Paris.
Also suggest getting your plane, car rental, and hotel reservations soonest. Use a reputable travel agent.
Good luck and bon voyage!

We have a similar trip planned for mid-June and plan to start in Paris and spend 3 days before we pick up our rental car. We then plan to drive to Nice and spend several days experiencing Ez, St. Paul de Vence, St. Tropez, Monaco, Porto Fino and on to Venice for a night. We may take an overnight ferry to an island...am making plans presently. We have done this trip previously and I think you are trying to see too many areas in a two week span. We visited Austria, Italy, Switzerland and back to Paris on our previous trip and were traveling alot.
We love southern France and northern Italy...have a great trip.

My wife and I did a similar trip for our honeymoon.
We stayed in Paris 2 nights, only spending 1 entire day there. If you're into museums, you'll ned way more time. We drove the next day down to Nice, stopping in Lyon for a few hours for lunch. We spent 3 nights in Nice. One day we headed east from Nice, along the coast to Eze and to Monte Carlo. The next day we headed west to St. Tropez, Cannes, etc. After that, we headed to Portofino for an afternoon, and then to Pisa to see the tower. Then on to Florence for a night, spending the next morning in Florence, and then driving up to Mestre. We went to Venice in the evening and then the next morningg as well. From Venice, Verona is only about 2 hours, and the Lake region only a few more hours after that. We headed up to Innsbruck for a night, then onto Munich for a night.
You can cover alot of ground by driving, and having a car allows you the freedom of going whenever and wherever you want, and in the 2 weeks, you can see alot. If you like an area in particular, go back to it next time.
