Find someone who is fluent in French to translate and send an email to Radio France. Since you have his name and a photo, surely they can forward the message to him so he can contact you if he wants. At least you know he is who he says he is! All may not be lost!!

I have always had an affinity for European men,since I worked with Italians from Rome and Milan for 12 years in import/export.
Apparently the French like Spanish looking women alot. I won't go into the waiter circling me while I was having a coke on the way to the L'Orangerie and telling me "You are a very pretty woman" and then you know how they wiggle their eyebrows up and down
LOLOLOL . It's definitely the RRRed lipstick that does it - I figured it was time to leave his table.. and be on my way to L'orangerie.
Too bad I dont get such attention in the U.S.
Well, what if Gerard thinks the whole incident was so bizarre, (which it was) that he would rather not be involved with such a person?
what if he thinks well she's a sick woman, I'll pass. ??? hmmmm?
Yet he did wait at the hospital for 2 or 3 hours. And the fact that he was and is such a decent person is impressive.
A neighbor of mine has a French friend who is a cop in Paris - and has no doubt Pierre could find him. But I haven't given him the go ahead yet.
I'd like to hear what the Fodorite men think.

I live in Paris and think that you should at least determine what is going on in Gérard's mind. After all, you are safely back home now.
And anyway, he acted more than decently and deserves to at least learn why you were not able to call him.

Well I think you should write a book about it (like in the movie Before Sunset). It will be hugely successful of course and you will go to Paris for the book launch and voila! who is in the back of the store and your eyes meet and ...

My daughter and I were in Paris at the same time, staying not too far from St. Germain area. I wonder if our paths crossed.
And I thought our trip was exciting. Yours definitely takes the cake. And if you don't follow up with Radio France, I think everyone on this forum will do so on your behalf.

Oh yes. George Clooney would be nice. Although Gerard is not that good looking. He's a nice looking or more of an interesting looking man - but I think it's the power of his intelligence and his spontanaiety which is attractive. It's almost as if,if he's thinking it, he says it, a trait which I share.
Can Angelina Jolie play me?
It would make a good tv movie though...but the hospital part definitely has to be comedic.

When I was young - we;'re talking 18 + here,they said I looked like Elizabeth Taylor, and then like Natalie Wood, and more recently a cross between Joan Collins and Fran Drescher (the Nanny on tv) thank goodness I dont sound like her . LOLOLoL.

my mother used to beg me to keep a diary of the things that happened - of course I thought just because she wanted to be nosy, an so I didnt do it- but perhaps I have had some unusual stories.. and half she didn't even know about.
Once on the way to Italy, the man next to me kept me up all night with incessant talking. He turned out to be Comte Noya di Lannoy and I couldn't get rid of him.(He's probably long dead now- ) When I returned home, one day my mother's doorbell rang, and there he was - he had tracked me down. I introduced him to a friend, an Irish woman from Londonderry with a distinctively put on British accent - and she married him. They came back to visit, she dripping with gold jewelry, homes in Rome, Paris, Ireland, and Rye New York, and he saying to me, "Now aren't you sorry" ? No, he was still an incessant nonsense talker - and she his fourth or more wife.
Then there was the Japanese ambassador who passed me a polite note on another plane trip - (OY) - and the really really cute Italian executive (business associate) who asked me to come back to Italy with him, and if I would he would buy me a Ferrari - he already had his own..(I didn't go). I once met Agnelli(who owned Fiat) and another time Harry Winston who was dining next to us, began a conversation with me - at the time I was too young to be impressed... LOL
But as one grows older and older - ahem - things do calm down considerably.
The saying youth is wasted on the young is true - and now I know what it means - on the other hand, my parents had a very tight leash on me - they're gone now, but the leash is still there if you know what I mean.

Oh, where is your trip report? I want to hear about your exciting trip.
Hopefully none of it was spent in a hospital being choked, mauled, and stuck like a pin cushion !

Mahya...what a fabulous journal! I am printing it out for motivation to work again and return to Paris, my love. I know that there must be some way to find Gerard and this you must do. If you have a friend in the media or who is a computer whiz, you can easily find him. It's simply too romantic and 'out of time, out of place' to not 'bother with'. Many moments of your report put me emotionally in Paris, acutely...I want to go back tomorrow. So Mahya, find Gerard, put on your beautiful perfume and the RRRED French lipstick and go girl!

What an experience!
My husband recently had a similar attack but in the safety of his own city. He will be having an operation (ablation I think they call it) next week.
Now you must must must contact Gerard. This is just too romantic!
