PARIS - Useful guide for 1st timers, Solo travelers, and everyone else
I'm working hard on researching more stuff to do in Paris when we visit in July/August . Recently went back to see what I've been storing on 'My Favorites' -
Found this and thought I'd pass it on:

Hmmm, i didn't read all of it but there are several errors and wrong informations there, for instance
Croissants are not made withe pate brisee (but apple tarts are)
The general emergency number is 112
Medical emergencies (SOS Medecins) number is 01 47 07 77 77
The RER's price between CDG and Paris is 8,50
There aren't loud helicopters hovering over the city evey morning (helicopters aren't allowed to fly over Paris)
Prisunic (recommended for grocery shopping) disappeared some 10 years ago

Sorry to hear some of the information is not current but I did see that it was copyright 2009 which led me to believe it was kept updated.
I just love the way he describes things - Like which chairs are the most sort after in the Tuileries - Also the links that are available are quite amusing......like the one under the heading 'Tourist things to do (and skip)' has a section on the Arenes Lutece. A link to their website brings on some lovely French song. Clicking on another part of the website allows you to listen to a husky French voice - other husky voices in conversation - Now that really puts you in the mood for Paris!

Not at all Aussie! You should try and get hold of a copy of "The Sweet Life in Paris" by David Lebovitz. It has recipes in it for all things French, but at the moment I skip those and go straight on to read about the Parisians and their different culture. It's really funny in parts and I can't help laughing out loud!
