Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge a place, I did stay overnight there but perhaps I should have researched it better. The place just seemed so spread out and we had to walk block after block to find a decent place to eat but others know it much more than me.

steve - we had dinner round the corner from the campo dei miracoli. it was a bit hit or miss but it tasted ok to us.

Lucca is a really boring place in the mind of the beholder. In comparison, Pisa is excruciating (also in the mind of the beholder).
