Preclearance in Dublin

Returning home to USA on July10th from Dublin. I understand we can pre-clear customs there instead of when we arrive in USA. Our shuttle to airport arrives at 9 A.M. and our AA flight departs at 11:20. Is this enough time to do this? I've read various accounts of the time needed. I assume there are signs to show us the way once we go to the ticket desk and security. Are we doing this with our luggage in hand? I watched a video recently that looked like they take a picture of the luggage? Does the luggage leave us and go somewhere? I'M confused .Can anyone that has been through this procedure, enlighten me, I would appreciate the help and whether the 2 hours and 20 minutes time is sufficient to do all we have to do to catch our flight on time. Thanks

We did three years ago before we had global entry and last year when we had global entry.

The first time they told us to be at the Dublin airport three hours before but there was considerable time between all the formalities and the flight. We were staying in Dublin.

Last year we just sauntered through with Global Entry. And this was taking a flight a connected flight from Madrid.

Hi, we did this last year and it was quite easy. No, you still check in your luggage as per usual, and you still may have a bit of processing to do when you get stateside, although much reduced from usual. I believe the 2 hours 20 min should be plenty of time.

If I take an early flight I need three hours, if I take the 2:20 flight from Dublin 2.5 is ok but I don't shop much till I get to duty free so need that extra time to shop. Why can't you get an earlier taxi or take the bus? If you are staying in Dublin it is easy to do that.
Check in at the ticket counter can be quick or slow. They take your luggage there. You go through security and then wait for your gate to show up on the screens. You then go to immigration and they will show you a picture and ask if that is your suitcase and a few other questions. There is another little shopping area and bar before your gate.

I would allow for a bit more time - July will be extremely busy, which could delay things. The first time we did this, my husband got 'tagged', and pulled aside at every security check, so the process took a bit longer. The way is clearly marked from the ticket counter, so that won't be any problem. Once you get thru all that, there are places to shop and eat (as previously noted), however, those lines can be long as well.

Would rather be early and at the gate rather than rushing to make my flight.

It's nice that you don't have to do this once you land - just get your luggage and go!

Have a great time in Dublin - such a great, fun city!
