Provence, France

I will be flying into Marseille on Saturday Morning, 05/15/10
I want to view the Hill towns of Provence.
What I most want to do is to take pictures in this area
Could you nice people give me ideas for a 4 or 5 day itinerary and Ideas of Bed and breakfast or which town to stay?

I like the Auberge de Presbytere in the lovely village of Saignon.

Hi G,

Start by looking up Provence under "Destinations".

Get some guide books.

Create a draft itinerary.

We will be happy to help you tweak it.

Enjoy your planning.

If you stay around Gordes or Menerbes, etc., that is pretty central. This website is very good and you can search for hotels vs. B&Bs (chambres d'hote)
www.avignon-et-provence.com

Roussillon and Gordes are hill towns and near others (so is Bonnieux and Menerbes).

Hey, I'm going to Marseille and Provence also so have been doing a lot of research. I know some nice B&Bs (although they aren't my style, so I opted for a small hotel).

Here's a nice B&B but near Perles-les-Fontaines, you may want something farther south
http://www.bonoty.com/

Here's a pretty budget B&B at Buoux http://www.aubergedesseguins.com/

these are more expensive ones in Bonnieux

I haven't stayed at any of those, I'm staying in BOnnieux in a couple months at the HOtel Cesar http://www.hotel-cesar.com/ It's just a 1* but is a good location and has nice views. I've only personally stayed in inns or hotels, not B&Bs in Provence.

I think you really mean Pernes - and it is north & west of Gordes/Roussillon/etc. It's a hotel with a nice restaurant. We dined there in '07 & will probably do so again this June. It is a little hard to find - down a long minor road.

yes, I do that was a typo Pernes-les-Fontaines. A lot of B&Bs are hard to find IMO.

hey, Stu, are you at all familiar with the Hotel Cesar in Bonnieux? I just wondered as it's listed as only a 1* hotel, but looks okay to me on its website, but I'm wondering if I'm going to be sorry staying there two nights. It seems to have good views, and is a good location. I've never stayed in a 1* hotel, but lots of 2*.

It's a very good location with a porch that you can sit and drink and watch the passing parade. I've heard good things about it.

Nope - we've only stayed in Gites for the past 12 years.
