Rental Apartments in Barcelona?

Does anyone have recommendations for a trustworthy company to use or a favorite specific rental apartment? Thanks!

We just returned form Barcelona: rented from Habitat Apartments. The staff were always helpful. Our apartment was very nice (Alibei 2 in Eixample section of Barcelona). Walked everywhere - very near to Metro

Hi trekker - a few questions: 1) when are you going, 2) how many bedrooms do you need, 3) are you looking for someplace in a particular part of Barcelona, and 4) what's your budget?

We're renting a VRBO studio in the El Born area (http://www.vrbo.com/231722) in January... if it fits your qualifications, I'll post our thoughts about the place. We're renting it because we wanted a really affordable, modern place in the El Born area.

I've seen a lot of positive reviews for the Habitat apartments on Fodors, but we decided against them because of some unfavorable reviews on Tripadvisor for the specific apartments we were looking at. (Habitat the company is apparently great... we just weren't crazy about the options in our price range)

I have also been looking for apartments in Barcelona and saw several from friendlyrentals.com that I liked. However, when I did a search for the company I came up with a number of red flags.

Looks like someone from the company is posting positive reviews about them on tripadvisor as all of their reviews are similar- most are just titles with no review details from people with no other reviews. I found another website with reviews in languages I don't speak but noticed that multiple reviews are from the same 4 or 5 posters and are very similar. I also saw a couple of really bad and detailed reviews in the tripadvisor chat room that will keep me from using them as well.

Just the name "Friendly Rentals" sends up a red flag with me.

Based on the research I've done, both Friendly rentals and Habitat Apartments are reliable, legitimate rental agencies in Barcelona.

Our flights aren't booked yet, but we're planning on leaving a few days after Christmas and staying through the New Year. We need 2 bedrooms and we're hoping to stay under $1,500 for seven nights.

You should have choices at that price, perhaps even with two baths. You should define what you want to see and do and if you have a type of neighborhood in mind, i.e. nightlife, quiet, family etc.
