Rhine Cruise for 2-3 hours

We are arriving to Frankfurt on Sep 11th morning and would like to take a short (~2-3 hours) tour along Rhine River. What would be the best starting point- Mainz or Rudesheim? What is the cost of a ticket? And the payment options? – cash/ credit cards? thank you

I think that your starting point and the length of the trip will be largely determined by how your schedule meshes with the ship lines'.

Check out the timetables at k-d.com (several companies are represented) and start your planning from there.

Ticket cost depends on the length of the trip - your 2-3 hour excursion will probably run 10-15€.

All forms of payment graciously accepted.

This is old information, but it has probably not changed:

The town of ASSMANNHAUSEN is next to Rudesheim on the Rhine. Easy drive from Frankfurt. There is a dock across the street from the KRONE HOTEL that does the short Rhine cruises. It takes you down the river, you can get off and then can take the next boat back up...or you can just stay on the boat.

They run them like busses. Fun trip and good relaxing time with a beer on the back deck. September weather should be great for that.

Don't start in Mainz - it takes too long to get to the scenic part from there. Ruedesheim or maybe Bingen across the river are good starting points.

Ditto Traveldawg, go to Assmanhausen, it is easier to park there than Rudesheim (much less crowded)- then go to St. Goar and back, takes about 2-3 hours I think. That hits the best part of the Rhine,if you go much higher the boats back south aren't as frequent.
