Safe parking is Siena

Am planning a day trip to Siena. Can anyone recvommend a safe, secure place for parking the rental car. No luggage or anything will be in it but still want the car to remain intact while were are out and about.
Tanks much, Lisa

I think you may be worrying needlessly. On our day trip to Siena, we parked our rental car on a side street about 1/2 mile or so from the city center w/o any problem, (if you don't count finding our way back to it!!) In fact, I am the one of the world's greatest sufferers of the "worst case scenario syndrome"--just ask my family and former workmates--and this one never would have occurred to me!!

Security is not the issue---finding a good parking place is the issue. I try to approach from the west and park near the " Stadio"--there are 3 well marked lots near there. Follow the big blue " P" signs.

we parked safely in Siena twice, no problems. If you go to park in the Stadio be forwarned you will probably be following large smelly buses very slowly up the road. I know I did

There's an enormous safe, well lit & well used underground carpark inside the city which is easily reached (And well signposted) if you enter the city via the Porta Romana and continue on up Via Roma. Porta Romana is the principle entry point from the south of Siena but you can also find it quite quickly coming through Porta Pispini (i.e the south east of the city walls)
I forget the cost of the parking (it's a few years since I last used it) but it's reasonable, secure and keeps the sun off your vehicle all day.

Hope this is of some help

There is controlled access parking at the Fortezza. You can find it on any map. It's cheap and secure. From there it's a pleasant 10 minutes walk to the center of town.

Drove to Seina earlier this month (7/2) for a day in the city.
We parked on the south side of the city at the Santa Caterina parking (underground garage). Direct walk from the garage (up hill) to the city porta. You enter the city about 500 yards from the Piazzan del Campo.
Good safe location.
Have a great time.
