Santorini to Athens - best way
Hi all,
We will complete our trip to Greece in Santorini. We have a 3pm flight departing from Athens back home. the Aegean Airways flight for 19 euros ($25)would arrive in Athens airprot at 1:25 pm. Is this enough time? or should we book the early morning flight on Olympic for $108? Any other suggestions?
Thank you!

This doesn't answer your question, but have you thought about taking the last flight of the day into Athens and spending the night there? I just came back from Santorini and wished we'd done that. In order to catch the first Aegean flight out, we had to have our luggge ready at 5:10am and catch the cab at 5:45. By the time i got home it was after midnight and my trave time was more than 26 hours. It would have been an easier trip home to start from Athens.

Thanks everyone. We were trying to avoid the cost of a hotel night in Athens. I could not find any early morning Aegean flights out of Santorini on their website. The earliest was at 12:40. Has their flight schedule changed?

The Aegean website is still showing a 7:25 AM flight from Santorini to Athens, but perhaps they have sold out on the day you want to fly.
I checked on the Olympic website, and they showed the early morning flight costing €105 ($135), which for two tickets would get you a nice hotel room in Athens.
A margin of 1hr 35min just isn't enough time, especially if you are flying from Athens to the US. Recommend you spend your last night stress-free in an Athens hotel.

I totally agree with the other posters. I think it would be a lot less stressful to stay in Athens the night before your flight home. The Athens airport was very chaotic and busy every time we passed through it for our connections to other islands this summer.

In September 2 Aegean Air flights were delayed leaving. Our flight from Athens to Chania was about 1hr 30 mins late leaving. Our flight from Santorini (12:40 departure time) to Athens was almost 2 hours late arriving in Athens.
Did not find the Athens Airport difficult to navigate. We did wait a good half hour for our luggage to arrive from Santorini in Athens, but u may be checking your luggage through. In any case, I agree with the others, u will really be cutting it close and would recommend that u spend the night in Athens.
