Scotland Golf Trip - Base Needed
Thoughts on where you would / have stayed when playing golf in the St Andrews area. We have confirmed dates and times for the Old Course and the Eden Course. Will add another in the area but not sure where at this point.
In addition to golf, we will have day trips to London & Dublin via Edinburgh Airport. Don't mind getting up early and driving an hour as needed.
Thoughts at this point are St Andrews for easy access to the golf portion of the trip and Edinburgh for the day flights. We would like to stay in the same hotel the entire trip due to having our clubs and other luggage.
Any other town recommendations?
Thanks in Advance.....

I stayed in St. Andrews when I went to play there for the week. Stayed at the St. Andrews Golf Hotel, about 200 yards from the 1st tee at the old course. Russacks and the Old Course Hotel are also excellent, right along the old course. The town is also a great place to stay, I enjoyed my week there. Since it's a golf trip, I'd stay in ST. Andrews, wonderful atmosphere, and it's close enough to Edinburgh that you can make it there for your day trips.

It's not too far from St Andrews to Edinburgh to base yourself there, but try to get into a situation where you don't have to cross the Forth Road Bridge to get to the airport during the rush hour.
If that IS an issue, then consider either staying in Edinburgh- it's OK to go against the traffic- or somewhere like Culross or Linlithgow. In the first case you can get to the airport via the Kincardine Bridge; in the second you are again on the south side of the river.
If crossing the bridge is not an issue, I would suggest, to be away from St Andrews and to give yourself easy access to other areas, you look at the Green Hotel in Kinross or the Bein Inn in Glenfarg.
