Scotland itinerary questions - focus on highlands.
Hi everyone. I am trying to perfect an itinerary. We have two weeks to work with and our goal is to spend as much time in the highlands as possible (this will probably be this October). With this in mind, we will likely skip Glasgow and just spend the first two nights after arrival in Edinburgh. We'd also like to spend some time a little off the beaten path so to speak. Does this rough plan make sense:
Arrive in Edinburgh - 2 nights.
Callander - 2 nights.
Glencoe/Fort William - 2 or 3 nights?
Portree or somewhere else in Skye - 2 or 3 nights?
Head somewhere less visited - Ullapool? 2 nights?
Ballater or somewhere else for Cairngorns National Park - maybe Granton on Spey? - 2 nights.
Fly home from Edinburgh.
We are amateur photographers and like to do some short hiking/walking. We are basically looking for the best scenery and outdoor experience. We've heard Scotland has some of the best scenery in the world and that is why we are coming here next.

Can't post much right now (sitting in an NBA arena pre-game) but October is getting a little late to be basing a trip around Skye and be far NW. Both would be very weather dependent.
I'll post more late tonight but others will likely chime in . . .
