September Honeymoon in Greece...help!
My fiance and I are taking our honeymoon in Greece and will be staying 7 days in the Southern Peloponnese Peninsula and have 5-7 more days to play with...we want to see Athens for a day or two.
Any recommendations on what to do for our extra days?

The Peloponnese covers a large area and has many possibilities including, beach resorts, mountains, villages and ruins, depending on your preferences. Where are you staying for your 7 days and will you be hiring a car?
On our last visit we toured from Athens staying a few nights each at Nauphlion, Monemvassia and Paralio Astros and on a previous trip, we stayed at a the small coastal resort of Finikounda (Messinia) and visited Koroni, Methoni and Pylos and the wodnerful beach of Voidokilia. My pictures from these holidays might give you some ideas of what there is to see:

We've also toured parts of the Mani from Stoupa and stayed in Tolon. There is no shortage of things to see and do in the area.

We are staying at the Porto Hydra Hotel and I believe it is in Ermioni-a port town across from the Hydra Island. Would you recommend renting a car or is there an easy rail/bus system in this area? We are considering touring some of the Cyclades Islands.

A quick Google for car rental Ermioni found this car hire company - I'm sure there are others.

As we usually prefer to drive ourselves, I can't comment on public transport. Car hire does give you more flexibility and the ability to visit places en route.

September in Greece is beautiful. If you are going to be in Athens, and either don't mind the packing and moving around or could manage keeping your Athens room to leave your stuff, I would recommend a trip to Hydra and staying the night. The island can be busy with day-trippers and those annoying "one day" cruises, but few tourists stay over and you can have a unique island experience with few visitors around. Also a stay allows you the "luxury" of taking the ferry rather than the high speeds. I find the high speeds a bit uncomfortable, while there is something uniquely "old Greece" about the ferry.
