If I had only 5 days and was going to finish up in Lake Como, I would go for the Amalfi Coast. I have not been there yet, but have been to Sicily and you need at least double that amount of time to make a dent in all that Sicily has to offer.

It seems like with 5 days on the Amalfi Coast area you could cover a lot with public transit. In my opinion, Sicily is best seen with a car and I am unsure if you would want to rent one.

I agree--Sicily needs a car and 10 days. We will be there in May for 15 days this year. Five days is perfect for the AC. Have fun !
