SPAIN 4 DAYS
First time to Spain. Flying into Madrid day after Thanksgiving --Friday thru Monday. My thoughts were to spend 2 days in Madrid and then day trips to Toldeo and one other. Can anyone offer suggestions ??

So, you'll arrive in Spain Friday morning?
What time is your flight out of Madrid on Monday?
What do you want to see? What are your interests? Have to been to Madrid or surrounding towns before?
I'd say:
Friday - stay in Madrid, walk around the city and recover from jetlag
Sat - day trip to Toledo
Sun/Mon - Madrid
I doubt you really want to do 2 day trips out of Madrid when you're really there for 3.5 days at most.

I did the same lenth trip a couple of years ago with some girlfriends; left on Thursday/ returned on Monday. We weren't bothered by jetlag either, so we saw a lot in Madrid. On our first day there, we even had dinner with my Spanish friends and didn't get in until 1AM! We did not go out of the city. We went to the Prado, the palace, the bull fight ring (out of curiosity, but enjoyed the museum), the Sunday flea market (be careful of pick pockets; I warned, but one still lost her camera!), several churches of interest, shopping lots, long lunches and dinners, and we took a fabulous wine and dinner tour one night.

a daytrip to Segovia is very do-able -- as I recall, the bus is better than the train (maybe an hour or a little more?) and there's a fabulous cathedral, very large remnant of Roman aquaduct, scenic castle, walled old city architecture.

Segovia is a nice side trip but Madrid can wear you out with all the activity, museums and great sections of town. Madrid is a fabulous city. Maribel can tell you about the new high speed train to Segovia. They opened it after I left so I can't. She is the greatest so stick with her recommendations. The Bus ride was boring!
