I wish it were closer to Munich :-). Going to Berchtesgaden just for croissants is just a litte too far far me. Temps went down that Monday evening and are down since then. I have the heating switched on permanently.
Just hope for summer this year... Keeping fingers crossed.

swisschocolate Jun 4th, 2009 10:05 AM

I will do that for you. It's already 90 degrees Fahrenheit here in North Carolina and it's not even summer yet....

logos, trust me, the drive to Berchtesgaden is worth it for the croissants! I love the ones from a little bakery in the Hinterschonau area that we used to walk to in the mornings from our ferienwohnung. The chocolate croissants were my favorite and I think I would fly all the way to Germany for one right now if the price was right... ;)

Tracy,
I tried the email you gave me before but it didn't go through...do you have my email at work? If so, drop me a line. If not, if you have my home one...

thanks

tcreath Jun 5th, 2009 04:41 PM

swisschocolate, are you sure you tried [email protected]?

swisschocolate Jun 6th, 2009 02:59 AM

Got it now - :)

Just sent you one. Thanks!

tod Jun 6th, 2009 03:10 AM

swisschocolate - I was wondering what dates you were away as it doesn't say in your wonderful trip report? We got back from Munich this past Monday and also experienced very hot weather on Sunday at the Chinese Pagoda in the English Gardens before ending up in the Marianplatz! It was so lovely to have the sun on our last day.

tdelano -
The restaurant in Fuessen where we ate the first night is Brauerei Gasthof Woaze. http://www.woaze.de/index.html

Great food and my husband loved their Konig Ludwig Weissbier.

The next night we ate at a pizzeria...I can't find the name but if you're standing in front of the Gasthof Woaze, it's in front of you across the street to the right a little. It's before you get to the dead end on your right. Hope that helps.

Enjoy your trip and don't forget to check out the Hotel Kurcafe for a pastry!

Sorry, just seen you left 12th May - what date were you in Munich for the trip home? Thanks.

logos999 Jun 6th, 2009 03:30 AM

Tod, you were here on Monday the 25th, which had a max. of 28C, since Tuesday it has been cold.

logos999 Jun 6th, 2009 03:31 AM

55F at 1.30pm

swisschocolate Jun 6th, 2009 05:34 PM

tod - We were in Bavaria from May 20 - 27. In Fuessen on the 20th and 21st, Berchtesgaden the 22nd - 25th, and Munich on the 26th. We departed on the 27th.

Dagnabit, Tracy, you just had to go and mention those chocolate croissants!!! Yummmmm.

We are going back in September. Can't wait! Won't be going to Berchtesgaden again this trip but I'm hoping I'll find some chocolate croissants somewhere while we are there!

Just missed ya Swisschoc! Thank goodness we had one of the smoothest transitions from train to airport on Sunday 24th
around 4.30pm.
Logos999: So Monday was even hotter !

swisschocolate Jun 8th, 2009 05:02 AM

tod - Glad you had a smooth trip to the airport!

Yes, the day we left Munich it was rainy and cold. Quite a difference from the previous days.

LLindaC Jun 8th, 2009 06:24 AM

If you think it's crazy on the German trains, try getting to Lugano from Milan. We thought we'd have to hitchhike! Can't wait to be on those Swiss trains next week! Buses, too!

swisschocolate Jun 8th, 2009 09:38 AM

Hey LLindaC - yes, I've been on Italian trains too and I know what you mean! No order at all - actually one of the trains in the Florence station had "Chaos" spray painted on the front. We thought that was appropriate.

The Swiss definitely have the best system!

Absolutely fantastic photos! I have got second thoughts about putting our photos up for viewing on Kodak Gallery - they show up so small and loose so much detail. I have done two 'albums' so far but am really thinking about doing the rest on Flickr.
Thanks again for showing us your lovely holiday!
