scrb, I thought the same when passing the Walensee, I noted it is quite popular with locals for camping, hiking etc, see this blog https://www.momstotszurich.com/2015/...o-betlis.html/

scrb11, certainly! A day trip is possible, the village is well connected with Zurich. Staying for a day or two would also be a good idea.
mnag, thanks a lot! I agree with you that Chamonix area is breathtaking as well. As for Chamonix, other than the trail to Col De Balme, all were at least moderately trafficked. But the views were staggering. With BO, I was able to get to much less visited trails like the one to Tanzbodeli, for example, or even Gross Scheidegg, which was easy, but no people up there. I would rate them equally, hard to have favorites here.
