Things to do in Motril (Granada), Spain

I know this is way in advance, but a cruise we are considering docks one day in August (2022) at Motril, primarily to provide an excursion to La Alhambra. We previously spent 3 days in Granada and could have spent more, and I can't imagine trying to see it in a few hours. Oh, well. So we would not take the long bus ride. Instead, I am trying to find out things to do in the port city of Motril, while my fellow passengers are taking a day on a bus. There look to be beaches near the port, which could be a good way to spend a day. Any comments on those beaches, ammenities, transport to/from, food, chairs umbrellas, etc., would be appreciated. Also, any other ideas for exploration in the area. We are not into hiking due to mobility issues (but not wheel chair), late 70's reasonable healthy. (Of course, as we get closer, the line may have some excursions offered other than La Alhambra.)
Thank you.
