Thistle Kensington Park Hotel

Does anyone have recent knowledge of this hotel? We are going there in February on a northwest Airlines package and the price was great. If it is a dump, however, we can upgrade. We usually stay in Bloomsbury or Trafalgar Square area, but decided to try kensington for a change.
Thanks
Jean

I stayed at the Thistle Kensington Palace in April and was very happy with it. It's right next door to the Thistle Kensington Park. The Kensington Park looked just as nice as the Kensington Palace from the outside, and we were very happy with the location - easy access to 2 or 3 tube stops and a nice walk through the park to get to some areas.

We were there a couple of nights in June as a part of another trip on British Air. The hotel is okay, but it is not as convenient to tube as others nearer to the Gloucester Road stop. If you make pit stops at your hotel during the day, this may not be your "cup of tea." If you do stay there, try to have your breakfast in the small room that looks out onto K. Park.

Sorry, but I believe it was the Kensington Palace we were in, not the Kensington Park. They are next door to each other.

As a flight attendant, I have stayed in this hotel several times on layover in London. The rooms and hotel in general are clean and modern. As for location, I love it because it is not smack in the middle of the business district of London and the Tube, Kensington Park, Hyde Park and the buses are all easily accessable. The number 12 bus right outside the hotel will take you down through London, through Picadilly Circus, through Trafalger Square and on to Big Ben, over the Thames and beyond. You are also just a couple of blocks from the Queensway tube station. The number 12 bus line is also a relaxing way to rest at the end of the day and enjoy several of London's landmarks by night. In short, this is a good choice of hotels, however, the Thistle Lancaster gate which is more or less next door is rather shabby. Enjoy your trip!

I think rlimb is referring to the Thistle Kensington Gardens Hotel - not the TK Park Hotel, which is on the opposite side of Kensington Gardens.

I like the Thistle Kensington Park (do not like the TK Palace next door), but as someone else posted, it is not as convenient to the Tube as other hotels.
