three day side trip from Paris?

Any suggestions for a three day side trip from Paris, we'll have been there a week, have a few days extra July 23 - 26. Will most likely rent a car from CDG, we've been to Normandy and Brittany several years ago, could always go back. We're thinking about the Champagne region, Amiens, Laon, etc. Just me and the husband, I speak a little French. Small towns or farm stays a plus, but not averse to large cathedrals. Thanks in advance!

Strasbourg! ;-)

You won't need a car - TGV will take you straight there in about 2 hours.

Take the TGV to Avignon,(easy- from Gare de Lyon), rent a car and pick a base in provence and from there tour the hill towns. I would suggest Isle sur La Sorge as a base-easy to drive to the various hill towns. Also an easy, short drive from Avignon TGV station(they have 2 train stations).

Or the Loire Valley. Take the TGV to Tours and rent a car and do all the chateaux.
