Time To Clear Customs at Stansted Airport
For anyone who has flown internationally into Stansted, about how much time was required to clear customs and obtain baggage? We're thinking of taking MaxJet with an 8:30am arrival; so comments from travelers on that airlines are particularly appreciated. Thanks.

I assume you are talking about immigration - not customs. Customs is basically nothing - if you have nothing to declare you simply walk under the green sign and you're done w/ customs.
Immigration depends on a lot of things - mostly how many planes are landing around the same time, how many non-EU passport holders are queued up, and how many immigration officers are on duty.
But in "general" Stansted shouldn't take long.

Hello! It takes about 15-20 minutes to clear customs and get your baggage. Very speedy compare with Heathrow!
On the MaxJet note: our family is a HUGE fan of MaxJet! The price is very resonable for the superb service! The beds recline to 170 degree, the food was tasty; a portable tv-dvd player had about 2 dosen movies, different cartoons for the kids, games etc. We just booked a round trip London- New York for $1049 per person for August through a company Flyaway travel (on the web directly it is about $200 more). They also offer great breakfast in nearby hotel (Renessance I think) and use of their gym. For those who are checking in only in afternoon, it is great opportunity to eat and relax before going into the city. If you fly Continental or Virgin for the same dates it is around $1000, BUT Economy class. To sum up: we love it and use MaxJet for ALL our trips to London.

For Americans, Stansted immigration might be fine, since the overwhelming majority of its flights, at any time of the day, are from other EU countries so most of the time 90-odd percent of passengers are going through the EU lanes.
Which are AWFUL.
At peak times, we can expect up to 45 minutes of discomfort at STN, and the airport and immigration people agree solving the problem needs serious construction work. And 0830 (0930 in most EU countries) is a peak period for the 90-120 minute cheapos from Stockholm or Prague.
