Time to stand up for Air France!!!!
There has been some bashing of Air France on this board recently. I felt it was time to let them that their supporters far outnumber the few who criticize this wonderful airline. It is a national airline and a symbol of a wonderful country!!

I apologize in advance for putting this post on this board rather than the "airlines" board. I chose to post here because this was where the criticism was being posted.

Everything I have to say about Air France is good. I have found them to be on time and efficient in their service. Planes are CLEAN and the food is quite good for airline fare (it is from France!). I have found customer service to be excellent in a sophisticated way. They don't fawn all over you and maybe that is what upsets some people--they want to be catered to. Air France solves problems and does it quickly and correctly. A truly great airline!

I hope Air France execs read this board and can see many many more people support them then criticize them!

Jacques, you must be kidding, Air France truly SUCKS!
Don't get me wrong, France is a beautiful country, and Paris is my favorite city in Europe. Air France flight attendents are not at all attentive to their passengers. And that is not just my opinion, it's a fact!

I wonder if those who have negative things to say about Air France don't tell the whole story? Many give sweeping statements without any specifics. It is easy to criticize and difficult to defend when such tactis are utilized.

Air France treats its customers with sophistication which is consistent with an upscale European airline. It also reflects the French culture.

Air France is not "nicey nicey" and maybe that is what irritates some? If you tell a joke to an Air France, flight attendants won't laugh at it just because you are a paying customer. If its not funny they don't laugh. Call it cultural or what you want. Too many people are accustomed to "always being right because I am the customer". It doesn't work that way. If you travel on Air France you travel with class.

With all respect, Jacques, your posts contain far more sweeping statements than most.

The thread that was critical of AF was about a specific incident that was described in detail. No sweeping statements and few generalizations-- just a really bad experience passed along for whatever it was worth.

I tend not to believe sweeping statements, so I am with you on that. But support AF because they are a national airline and a symbol of France... well that's fairly sweeping itself, isn't it?

If AF customers report a large number of problems (or a small number of serious problems) I want to hear about it. If AF does a good job I want to hear about that, too. You don't have to be so defensive; AF can take care of itself, so long as it provides good service and a good value.

I totally agree except the part who is using more sweeping statements.

I just felt the need to confront inaccuracies about poor service at Air France. If you don't confront it then people will believe it.

Air France is an ELITE airline.

Jacques, I don't think the food for the JFK/CDG flights I've taken actually came from France...saw them loading it right there in NY. AF is no better and no worse that the other 5 or 6 carriers I use for the transAtlantic commute. It's a flight-by-flight story. Generally speaking, not one of my favorites for the long-haul. I'm pretty fond of the 777s and I don't think they have any.

Air France is high end airline that caters to more seasoned travelers--not first time to France vacationers with cameras around the neck and asking for freebies/handouts all the time. If your mission is to get from the city you are in to the city you are ticketed for you typically have no problem. If you want the ticket agent to tell you where you should go in Paris (when four people are in line behind you and you insist on speaking in English) well then you may not get what you are looking for. It is an airline not a travel agency.

Air France is a high end airline? I don't think so! Coach on Air France is pretty much exactly set up like every other airline and the service is frequently snippy and in my experience, the bathrooms get dirty very quickly and don't get cleaned at all during the flight. The food is mediocre (as is all airline food in coach) and the wine is no different than that on United or
Delta or any other airline.
