No thanks. I was in a claustrophobic room with natural light and measuring about 11-12 sq. m. large. It was awful.

But if it's comfortable and cheap, with a clean, comfy bed, and clean shower and toilet, and hot water, and perhaps A/C or heating, depending on the weather, what more do you need? In general one visits a place to go sightseeing, not to spend time in one's hotel room.

I'll grant that the needs for business travellers are different—they may well spend a lot of time in the hotel room when they are not at the office, since there may be nothing else to do, and they may not be happy about travelling to begin with.

I agree, one should be out sightseeing and not stuck in a hotel room. But there are times when you want to come back to your room and relax, sit at a desk and write some postcards, eat pastries, watch TV, etc. The small room didn't work for me; I really felt totally confined even though I had a window. But I'm sure others won't mind the smallness of these rooms.

Oh, I agree, with francophile.
What if it is raining or really cold ( as it has been on a few of my visits to Paris)..it is nice to go back to a comfortable room, write postcards, maybe take a long hot soak and get ready for dinner and relax while reading over notes for sightseeing?

I want to be in a room, those are hardly "rooms"! ..it would spoil my stay.
My son has stayed a few times in the capsule hotels around Japan, even he knew that I would need oxygen if I had to stay in one for longer than half an hour lol.

Mmm, yes. Reminds me of my "double" room at the Hampstead Heath Youth Hostel. Double bed on the bottom, single bed on top. No place to put our suitcase so my wife shared the double bed with the suitcase (she reckoned it was more cuddly than me!) and I got the single. The ceiling was 30cm from my face and to stop myself going stir crazy I turned myself around so I could see the small window. It cured me of my adventurous notions of hostelling across Europe.

OK the Yotel looks nice but you're still a rat in a cage (with a tux).

Looks very nice to me, not like one of those bright orange easy pod rooms.
10 sq meters I can deal with - these are at an airport so great for delays or stopovers, not meant for whole 2 week holidays. A room 6 foot by 15 foot aint that bad! Bigger than some ordinary bedrooms. A shower can't take up much space after all.
