Travel from Paris to Prague or Budapest

I have a roundtrip ticket to France/Orly Airport in September (won it in a contest.) My plan is to leave Paris immediately to see Prague and Budapest, then return to Paris and stay a few days there before I return home to New York. Whole trip will be 16 days.

What is best way to travel from Paris to either Prague or Budapest? Fly? I couldn't come up with an airline that flies out of Orly to either Prague or Budapest. I have no preference as to which city I see first, I just want to keep the intercity traveling simple.

I'm not an experienced traveller, have only been to the other side of the ocean once, and that was a trip to the UK in 1995. I'll be travelling alone. Any suggestions appreciated.

According to this site http://www.flylc.com/directall-en.asp EasyJet flies from Orly to Budapest and Air Europa flies to Prague. But I was under the impression that easyJet had stopped its Orly-Budapest flights. If you arrive in the morning in Orly you should be able to catch a late afternoon flight in CDG. The connection is quite easy via Orlyval and the RER B. So look for flights out of CDG.

EasyJet still flies daily to Budapest ex Orly -- look it up at www.easyjet.com The service departs just after 8 a.m. (except on Sunday) which possibly won't help you if you are travelling from North America. You cannot connect to EasyJet from other airlines so in Orly you will have to go through customs and immigration, collect your bags and check in with EasyJet -- all time-consuming.

EasyJet's flight to Prague from Charles de Gaulle leaves mid-afternoon.
As well as the OrlyVal connection between Orly to CdG, a bus service called Les Cars Air France is available. More expensive, at 19 euros, but it avoids OrlyVal's change from shuttle to regional train, a consideration for a stranger after a long flight. http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/e...air-france.htm and check Ligne 3.

The sooner you buy your EasyJet ticket, the cheaper it will be. And remember that the price on the opening page will go up as you make your booking since the airline will charge for such "extras" as luggage. The website is very clear about its prices. You pay for everything you get, but you definitely get what you pay for.

If easyJet doesn't work, a company called SmartWings (never heard of them til I just searched right this moment) also operates several daily flights between CDG and Prague. They look like another easyJet/Ryan Air-type budget airline. www.smartwings.com .

Fly back from Budapest to Orly on easyJet, spend your time in Paris, then fly home. Sounds fun!
