Travel from Paris to San Sebastian
Seeking advice:
Two Couples 4 medium to large suitcases.
Last minute trip to Europe, travel dates 10/21 through 10/30 in Paris, those days will be in Paris in a rented home as a base, would appreciate day trip recommendations for outside of Paris and how we should travel there for at least 3 of those days we are in Paris. Wanted to possibly see Burgundy and Reims and save Bordeaux for below.
Side note is ParisPass good option for sightseeing in city or can do better on own.
After Paris--10/30 to 11/6 we are looking to travel to Northern Spain with San Sebastian as a base to do day trips through area (or other suggestions), have an additional 8 days for that. Hotel, restaurant and stops recommendations appreciated.
On somewhat of a budget not dire either/ thought of taking train to Bordeaux from Paris or car (where to stay in Bordeaux???) then heading to Northern Spain or should we rent car in Paris and drive to Bordeaux then head to Northern Spain???,,,,, Have to be back in Paris for return trip on 11/5.
Tips on Restaurants and must see places to and at Area of Northern Spain appreciated.
Regards to all!!!!
Tony

You might take a look at my trip report on northern Spain plus -- to find it, click on my screen name and then scroll down to the section on trip reports.
Two immediate recommendations:
(1) Get or consult copies of the <i>Michelin Green Guides</i> to these areas and
(2) Cut down on your luggage. ;-)

Fabulous restaurants all over the Basque Country, especially in beautiful San Sebastián. http://www.euskoguide.com/places-bas...stian-tourism/
16 Michelin stars in town, and four of the best restaurants in the world, Arzak, Akelarre, Mugaritz and Martín Berasategui are here. 39 Michelin star restaurants in the small Basque Country with only 2,2 mill people. And on the last "World's best restaurants" list for 2016, there are four Basque restaurants among top 21, twice as many as both US, UK and France: http://www.euskoguide.com/food-drink...r-restaurants/
http://www.theworlds50best.com/
According to the world's most famous chef the past fifteen years Ferran Adrià of the late El Bulli in Girona, San Sebastián is the best food city in the world "in terms of the average quality of the food, in terms of what you can get at any place you happen to walk into".

Casa Urola is my favourite restaurant in San Sebastián since the late 1980s. And last year it was voted best restaurant in the region by the major local newspaper El Diario Vasco, ahead of all the Michelin star restaurants. And a spectacular pintxos bar on the ground floor. http://www.casaurolajatetxea.es/es/portada/
The pintxos bar in Urola is now arguably the best in town, and the competition is sky high: http://allaboutfoodmag.com/de_pintxos-en-casa-urola/
All about going for pintxos in San Sebastián with suggested routes etc.: http://www.todopintxos.com/home/home.php
General info about the very diverse Basque Country, potentially adventure for a lifetime:

The spectacular Basque coast. And you'll find some excellent villages here with world class seafood (especially Getaria just west of San Sebastián): http://tourism.euskadi.eus/basque-coast/

Hotel Londres and Hotel María Cristina are the two best hotels in San Sebastián: https://www.hlondres.com/en/
http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/mari...ian.en-gb.html
And plenty of fine and great value budget options. Alemana is just behind Hotel Londres, and perfectly fine hotel standard (private bath, AC, TV, wi-fi, safe, 24 h desk, breakfast etc etc.)
