Trieste Airport to Lake Bled or Ljubljiana?
Can anyone help me figure out which is closer from the Trieste airport? Someone has told me there is a highway that goes right by Ljub on the way to Lake Bled. Or is there a road that goes directly to Lake Bled, but takes longer? We will see both places, so we don't care where we stop 1st, except for making that 1st night hotel reservation, and ofcourse we'll be tired after our flight so the easiest is the best. We'll stop in Trieste at the end of our trip. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have looked at maps! But apparently I am very map stupid, because my mind just can't filter out all the lines (roads) and I don't know how or if to account for mountains or passes. My husband has no interest in planning the trips, he just pays for them. Silly me thought maybe someone on a travel forum would know the answer, especially if they have been there before.

Hi zwho, my husband is the same!
From what I can tell you'll be better off driving to Ljubljana first ( there is an expressway from Trieste to Ljbljana, it looks like the same expressway continues to Bled. Ljubljana is north of Trieste and Bled in north of Ljubljana.
I have visited both Ljubljana and Bled many years ago- my choice would be first night in Ljubljana.

Thanks nbujic, for your reply. It seemed like thats what I should do, but since I really have no map reading skills, I didn't want to book a hotel and then find out we drove more then we had to. Its starting to all come together, but this trip has been harder to plan then any others we have ever been on.
